Members of a civic organization in support of the human rights of workers in the semiconductor industry hold a demonstration in order to draw attention to issues surrounding Park Ji-yeon, who had worked at the Samsung Electronics ’ semiconductor factory and died of leukemia, in front of the Samsung Electronics headquarters located in Seoul ’ s Seocho district, April 2. They argued that Samsung should recognize Park’s passing as an occupational death. However, the police arrested all seven members of the civic organization.

Repeated exposure to chemicals has always been an industrial hazard. Back in the days of "Mad Hatter's Disease" hat makers would absorb mercury through their skin, thus damaging their nervous system. This sort of problem is not far-fetched or new.
