Have White Supremacists & Extremists Taken Over the US Military?

» by in: US Military

You would think that after reading this article in the Stars & Stripes claiming “thousands” of white supremacists and anti-government extremists are running around the military:

Thinking of writing a few choice words in an online “white power” chat room? Think again. The Pentagon is cracking down on extremism in its ranks with a new set of rules restricting servicemembers from participating on the Web sites of supremacist groups.

A new Defense Department directive on dissident and political activity issued on November 27 — the first since 1996 — says servicemembers “must not actively advocate supremacist doctrine, ideology, or causes.” This includes writing blogs or posting on Web sites.

The new directive is the first at the Defense Department-level to address Internet-based supremacist affiliations. It went unannounced until it was reported in a blog Friday by Newsweek’s Michael Isikoff, who tracked down the military service records of two members of the Michigan-based Hutaree militia group that recently was raided by federal law enforcement groups.

Such groups are “detrimental to good order, discipline, or mission accomplishment,” the Pentagon now says.

Last July, Stars and Stripes reported that 130 members of newsaxon.org, a social networking Web site affiliated with the National Socialist Movement, had listed “military” as their job in “Facebook”-style user profiles. Swatsikas, Nazi symbolism and militant imagery emblazon the site.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights group in Montgomery, Ala., presented dozens of the user profiles to Congress and the Pentagon. The center estimates “thousands” of extremists serve in the ranks and has lobbied the Pentagon for three years to adopt clearer anti-hate measures and more vigorously pursue servicemembers known to be affiliating with hate groups.  [Stars & Stripes]

It is incredible that the Stars & Stripes is taken the word of the George Soros, leftist  Southern Poverty Law Center to make the claim there are thousands of white supremacists and extremists in the US military.  The Southern Poverty Law Center has been part of a campaign to label tea party activists and anyone else that doesn’t agree with liberal politics as extremists, white supremacists, potential domestic terrorists, and whatever other slur they can come up with to defame these people.  The US military obviously isn’t immune to these slurs from the SPLC either.  There isn’t a more integrated organization in the world then the US military and is sad to see the Stars & Stripes passing off the stereotypes passed by the SPLC and their left wing echo chamber as facts worth reporting.

Yet NOTHING will be said or done about minority soldiers who are openly in gangs, sporting gang tattoos, flashing gang signs, and breaking the law with other gang members.

We have a serious White supremist problem in the US military. Just recently one of them screamed Allah Akbar and gunned down a dozen of his fellow soldiers. He was active online and sent money to terrorist organizations. There was White supremist who rolled a grenade into the command sleep tent and then screamed Allah Akbar and finished off serveral officers who might have survived. Then there was this former soldier white supremist and his son who traveled around DC in a sedan and shot people at random for money and Allah….oh wait I'm not supposed to talk about those guys…ignore everything above.

    —-

Some dude saw a soldier do a hitler salute, let's get him, killings too good for him.

    —-

Sarcasm off: We have a serisous problem and we need equal treatment/enforcement/punishment. Hate crimes are hate crimes but we aren't allowed to call/talk about some. If I walked into a mess hall and screamed "I hate X people", I'd be fine as long as X referred to white or christian. I'd be out of the Army with a BCD if I was lucky if X equals anything else.

I have heard this time and time again, but I always contend if in my time in the Army if I ever felt any racism it was definitely from the black folks in enlisted leadership postions, and the crazy thing is I am half black!! At first I thought I was shunned by the "black community" was because I was commissioned but after awhile I saw how they interacted with other young black officers. Maybe thats just my experience but I never once can say in my 6years on active duty did I feel, see, percieve any sort of racism from any white soldiers. Of course that definitely not to say it doesnt exsist but just never saw it, and the overt variety was from black soldiers.

Are you serious? Have you ever been anything but Korean and lived in Korea? Actually compared to civilians the military tends to have LESS racists, and this can probably be attributed to having to work together on a daily basis. I think with that comment you made, YOU are the racist Tom.

Anyways.. I agree with ARCHIEB. I hear about drive by shootings and gang related violence by blacks my whole career and I never see a stars & stripes article on that. Hmmmm…. maybe the Army sees it a way for those individuals to take a bit of their homelife with them. The "Homesick Avoidance Program".

It is good the pendulum swings back and forth, otherwise (given extremist republican control) there would be a prison full of pitheads in every town, armies of homeless people would roam the street begging for money from the wealthy republicans, we would have a war on every continent and half the women in the country would be single mothers. Everyone would have an SUV that sits in the garage because we used up all the worlds oil. • Loyality
    5:35 am on April 15th, 2010 24

Swearing loyality to an organization other than the US Military while serving in uniform is questionable. We readily see the gangs and occasionally read about problems such as the jumping in death in Germany. Being a gang member while serving is wrong. We tend to overlook other organized groups that put the welfare of their members ahead of the military organization. One that is very visible is the masons. Swearing loyality to this organization while serving in the military is also wrong. S and S did publish the story of the beating death of a new recruit during their jumping in ceremony. This organization is being coopted by the Army and receives semi official status on posts. I have yet to see any white supremacists groups in the military but would not be suprised if they existed. All organizations on military bases that do not reflect the population of the military in their membership should be banned.

The dirty little secret is those Mason's you speak of (Prince Hall) are not REAL Masons. They are tolerated or ignored in the name of "inclusiveness". A REAL Mason is not going to have a giant gold Masonic emblem on the back of his BMW. Nor is he going to wear a giant Masonic emblem on a gold chain while hanging at the bar. At the most a REAL Mason might wear his masonic ring (upside down as you view it). You'll never get one to admit any of this in public though. But, it's not a secret either.

I have seen only one white EO rep before, but I was in a unit where the CSM got in trouble for telling a white NCO he could not attend EO school because he was not a minority. So an EO rep isn't always a minority but the vast majority of them are.

  • Leon LaPorte
    2:31 pm on April 15th, 2010 36

Just for shiats and giggles, let's say EO actually means "Equal Opportunity" and let's assume "Equal Opportunity" actually means what any normal-fair minded person thinks it means. Then, let's just throw a number out there, let's say 50% of the military consists of white males. Shouldn't 50% of the EO reps be white males? I rest my case.

Want to do away with perceived "white supremacists"? Eliminate special treatment. As long as you push, there will be someone there to push back. Make the military 100% equal, no special standards, no racial or gender quotas or preferences. Level the playing field and let the chips fall where they may.

I agree. I've come into contact with two distinctly different types of Mason's in my life. The first being the chest thumping idiots who tend to treat it as some special mark or something. Your correct Leon, but that would remove the need for NAACP and several prominent black ministers. Well in relations to the military.

The military still does a better job of it then anywhere else, I still remember when I was a bright eyed bushy tailed PVT my DS saying he was color blind. He couldn't see black, white, yellow or red, in fact the only color he could see was green. Took everyone a bit to understand what he was saying.

A very long story made very short: I was told once by a "brown" E7 Platoon Sergeant, (upon showing him my certificate of graduation from EO school) "they never should have gave you that". When I asked why, he knew he had no reason for saying it and stated, "uh uh, because you only like asian women". A fringing E7 said that stupid chit! Just another reason why I COULD NOT WAIT TO RETIRE!

Just for reference, I'm euro-American (white is a color, not a race) and bald, so I shaved the rest off. This caused me some trouble thru the years with my black and brown "brothers" in arms. The fact that I knew the regs and often they didn't, only added insult to injury most of the time.

Again, COULDN'T WAIT TO RETIRE. Get away from the racist idiots the Army so often advances in rank, for reasons other than their "Leadership" abilities. Aviation units are a joke.

Most of the complaints seem to be the reaction that nothing is being said or done about non-white racists and bigots in the military. Well there is some amounts of racism and bigotry in all of us, but I don't think that the policy is trying to address that.

It goes so far as to try to give a working definition of supremacist:

Military personnel must not actively advocate supremacist doctrine, ideology, or causes, including those that advance, encourage, or advocate illegal discrimination based on race, creed, color, sex, religion, ethnicity, or national origin or that advance, encourage, or advocate the use of force, violence, or criminal activity or otherwise advance efforts to deprive individuals of their civil rights.

    Emphasis is mine.

In other words, don't be a party to criminal bigotry.

I do think that definition could use some work. Especially when you consider that prohibiting the promotion of religious violence could be a problem for some Evangelicals.

Still drunk driving is something that shouldn't ever be allowed to happen. Your not only taking your own life into your hands, but the lives of every single person on the road with you. Driving a vehicle while intoxicated is the exact same as operating a weapons system while intoxicated, both can / will have disastrous results.

Personally .. I fcking *HATE* it that seniors would routinely get away with DUI's, but E6 and below would be burned at the stake. That is the one part of the US Military I hated the most, the constant desire of the higher ups to sweep things under the rug. The reasoning was that it was to make the CoC / NCOSC look like a unified unblemished whole … but everyone knew they were hiding things and it made them look horrible in the process.
