I didn’t think I would be able to get anywhere close to this Airport but to my surprise, I was able to drive right up to the terminal. Contrary to what has been reported, it appeared limited construction was going on when I was there. The Uljin Airport Terminal was smaller than the Yangyang Airport I wrote about here but was a much better looking terminal than Daegu and Busan Airports have.
Uljin Airportis a partially finished airport near Uljin County, South Korea. Construction was suspended in 2005 after the airport was 85% complete. The Board of Audit and Inspection halted construction after it was determined no airline wanted to use the airport. [Wikipedia]
Here are some photo’s I took of Uljim Airport.
A group of stray dogs seem to call the Airport home.
You can see more of my photo’s of Uljin Airport here.
I have heard they were considering using this Airport as a Civilian Flight Training Center and were also considering using it as a ROK Air Force Base. It will be interesting to see what happens to this Airport.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for how South Korea could use this Airport?

I'm quite the optimist.
