I was in Korea, and a 18 year old PFC Truck Driver on that day. I had a Priority Load to pick up south of Seoul, and return it to Camp Casey. They never told me anything about the Coup, only to report to the MP Station at Casey for details.
I reported there, and ended up with a MP in the truck with me, and a MP Jeep in front and back of me all the way to Kimpo to pick up cargo. I got real concerned about the time we were just south of Uijongbu. There were troops and tanks every where, and the larger intersections had sand bagged bunkers set up, with machine guns. The MP Sgt in my truck told me to just follow the
Jeep in front of me, and do NOT Stop.
We made it through Seoul with no problems, loaded the cargo, and headed back towards Casey. A MP from one of the Jeeps rode in the back of the truck with the wooded boxs for the return trip.
I have no idea what was in the boxs.
