World No. 1-ranked golfer Shin Ji-yai will be out of play for about two weeks after undergoing surgery on her appendix.

According to Shin’s management agency, she was admitted to a hospital in Illinois on Wednesday (local time) because of abdominal pain during a practice session and was diagnosed with appendicitis.

Shin was preparing for the LPGA State Farm Classic but will not be able to compete this week and probably the next as well.- Chosun Ilbo

The second women’s golf major of 2010, The LPGA Championship, starts June 24th. I agree with Hound Dog, I’ll be surprised if she is in the field.
