I'm guessing that was designed in part to make them appear less threatening to visitors.

Somebody had better report this to the ROK government – they didn't get with the program on the new romanization rules…

Looks like Marine Corps Woodland BDUs and haven't ribbed them in a while, but they are supposed to be sticklers for these things.

If you are going to have visitors taking pictures of you, you would want to hit the most prominent piece of brass on your uniform with some Brasso a few times a week. You can even see spots of green tarnish on that thing.

Take a look at the buckle on this ROK soldier to see how it's done.

This kind of pixelated camouflage is actually totally different from the old "woodland camouflage" pattern, and it's called "MARPAT" –(short for MARine PATtern). Also, the Marines don't call 'em "BDU's", the proper nomenclature is "Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform" (MCCUU), or "utilities" for short.

I was in the JSA from 2007-2010.

The picture is of a UNCSB-JSA ROKA MP wearing the ROK-SF/JSA uniform and the old JSA belt-buckle & pistol belt.
