Thanks for the post GI! – Ron also has a book about the time he spent in North Korea – you can get a copy here. Lot's of interesting (and sad) stories about his time in the DPRK and his American and British companions, some of whom he lost.

I wouldn't characterize South Korea in June 1950 as "US-occupied" like the video did. As was pointed out on this great blog, we had less than 500 personnel here, not exactly an occupation force…
