Via Andrew Bolt comes Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee who is so stupid that she thinks there is a North and South Vietnam living side by side in peace!
As Andrew mentions in his posting, someone please tell her Saigon fell 35 years ago.
How does someone this stupid get elected?

“How does someone this stupid get elected”.
She was elected by the ‘people’ she represents, and they are about as bright. She will most likely go on to be reelected, by a people who are poor, ignorant, consistantly make stupid lifetime decisions, and identify with her.
Unfortunately these idiots have been around for many years and seem to be growing, not only in numbers, but in those they elect to office.
The government encourages it.

This is also the Texas democrate who wondered why the Pathfinder robot couldn’t see the flag that Neil Armstrong left on Mars. Feel free to correct me as I didn’t take the time to look it up again. Might be another idiot.
So sad for Texas
I would have thought they would have sent someone that had at least a high school Diploma or owned a History Book. Or had read a paper. Or knew how to Google.
To think they made fun of Palin. Not that I’m a fan. But PLEASE—

Well.. she is fully qualified to be a GS-14 if her political career doesn’t pan out.
6:57 pm on July 23rd, 2010 4
Yes, she certainly represents her “constituents” well. I think it’s funny as she seems to be making the story up as she goes along, akin to a pathological liar.
Here’s a Georgia congressman worried that adding navy seamen to Guam will cause the island to tip over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9R-cQ_A_6w
There are so many stupid people in the U.S.-especially in the south!- that I’ve listed 47 states that I won’t possibly live in.

Schlermy, just curious. Which are the three you like?

But, I don’t think there would be any risk of nearly half the country considering her as a serious vice president candidate.

joec, if Biden can do it, so can Palin. But then again, Biden is only a bobble head doll.

Silly Teadrinker…
““She was elected by the ‘people’ she represents, and they are about as bright.”
Just like Geor…Nah, too easy.”
In the first election, the “people” elected Gore. It can be debated as to whether he would have been better than Bush.
In the second election, the “people” voted against Kerry… who had all the charm and charisma of a haunted tree. Once again, a comparison to Bush is like rotten apples to putrid oranges.
Interestingly, it was looking very probable for Dean to beat Bush. Yet, after the un-event of an enthusiastic “scream”, the media strangely turned on him, paving the way for the non-candidate, Kerry.
That whole deal is really hard to understand.
Aside from all that, there were a good deal of election irregularities… and a man with some of the answers found himself unexpectedly dead.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Killed_GOP_pilot_suspected_plane_had_1222.html
So… don’t be so quick to blame the American “people” for who they elect. Sometimes, there are no good options… and, perhaps, even the predetermined one is decided for them no matter who they vote for.
8:47 pm on July 23rd, 2010 10
Silly Chickenhead,
Accepting the official results in the first election instead of taking to the streets in protest is tantamount to voting for Bush.
A vote against Kerry is didn’t have to be a vote for Bush. There were other people on the ballot, just as they could have also submitted an invalid ballot.

Sheila Jackson Lee: Proof positive Democrat votes should be thrown in the nearest landfill.
9:04 pm on July 23rd, 2010 12
“joec, if Biden can do it, so can Palin.”
Maybe, but a boring seasoned politician and attorney would make a better backup/potential figurehead than a sportscaster and small town mayor with a penchant for the absurd.

George W. Bush and Sarah Palin are in a league of their own when it comes to winging it.

1. Hawaii
2. Missouri
3. Wyoming

That is very ignorant on her part. However there are a lot of people who don’t keep up with past events. A lot of old military people from the Vietnam era still think Okinawa is a US territory and will argue with you when you tell them it is not.
9:56 pm on July 23rd, 2010 16
It’s not just that she doesn’t know that Vietnam is one country. She’s just totally making up everything she’s saying as she goes along. The North should secede from the south, they’re so goddamn ignorant.

Silly Teadrinker,
“Accepting the official results in the first election instead of taking to the streets in protest is tantamount to voting for Bush.”
You expect me to get together with a bunch of stinking hippies and miss a truly important vote on American Idol or Dancing with the Stars… just to get put on an anti-terror list and have my azz beat by a militarized cop for straying outside a “Free Speech Zone”?
And you expect me to do this for Gore?
I think not.
“A vote against Kerry is didn’t have to be a vote for Bush. There were other people on the ballot, just as they could have also submitted an invalid ballot.”
Ha! Don’t you know… a vote that isn’t for one of the two major party candidates is a “wasted vote”. That is one thing the right wing and left wing media both agree on.
But, on a good note, it doesn’t matter who is elected… apart from a bit of pandering to special interest groups and big contributors, the same basic agenda is going to be followed.
Comparing Hope and Change Obama to Bush would be a good example.

Teadrinker 12, 13 and any that follow
I’m sure you already know this, but “W” graduated from Yale with a BA in History.
Doesn’t compare to your double Masters, but it does illustrate a point for me.
He is also the only President to earn an MBA from Harvard Business School.
My point is that you and he are both highly educated. But intelligence is something else.
Doesn’t take much intelligence to poke fun at another highly educated idiot.
As for the Lady from Texas that is the subject of this; I knew hookers in korea with greater knowledge of America then her.
She is just an embarrasment as an American, as a Woman and as an African/American.

#20,
“Doesn’t take much intelligence to poke fun at another highly educated idiot.”
Well, how would one become highly educated without intelligence?
Besides, I didn’t say George W. Bush is stupid. All I said is that he was clearly winging it, just like the much less intellectually and academically inclined Sarah Palin (or at least trying to appear as if he was).

“Well, how would one become highly educated without intelligence?
” You can get degrees and still be an idiot. I’ve met more than my share of people with a PhD that were useless.

Bush was bad because the media said so. They are all knowing.
Bush was bad. Bad. Bad. Bad.
Gore was good. Good. Good. Good.
No need to delve deeper into the issues. Smart people who went to college and stuff told us so.
I want my nanny.

To be fair, I don’t expect Americans to know TOO much about the world abroad. This kind of gaffe you see is more typical than you think. I still occasionally meet Americans who ask me which side of the Korean Penninsula is communist.
Then again, some American politicians fail to realize that Arizona is border state. Some think there are 57 states. Some of them think you can see Russia from Alaska.
Scary, huh?
12:19 am on July 25th, 2010 27
Surabol 26, a Russian island and an American island in the Bering Strait are about four kilometers apart, so yes you can see Russia from Alaska.

But getting back on topic, it’s sad that a congresswoman would run her mouth without checking the facts. It’s even worse that she doesn’t know the outcome of the Vietnam war. The Secretary of State attends an international conference in Hanoi, and a congressional supporter of the administration doesn’t know which end is up.

Gee, please explain way I or anyone would “wish” for that to be true. I can’t wait to read your explanation on why I would “wish” for that.
But obviously you are quite proud of SJL. Since you are proud of her, you must agree with her?
Please explain?
Or are you simply backing up what Marcus Ambrose stated about some of the highly educated?
To your question, “How would one get highly educated without intelligence?”
Since you haven’t been able to ascertain the differience yourself, you could ask the “W” himself. Or better yet, call up the White House. Ask the VP or POTUS. Both should be able to help you out.

Well, a Mr. Greene from SC may soon join her. Basically, this is the voting rights act working to better America. Too bad the voting rights act only applied, and still applies. to certain Southern states. The whole country should benefit from this brilliant law.
