By This story about an alleged drug smuggling Samsung heiress is just weird:
A drug smuggling case in Ohio has captured the attention of South Koreans because of the defendant’s claim that she is the estranged granddaughter of Samsung founder Lee Byung-chull.
Lisette Lee, 28, of Beverly Hills was arrested in June for allegedly using a private jet to move suitcases packed with marijuana from Van Nuys to Ohio on a dozen occasions between November 2009 and June 2010. She later told federal officials that she is the heiress to the South Korean electronics fortune.

In recent years, leaders of some chaebols have faced legal problems, many dealing with financial crimes such as fraud, embezzlement and breach of duty.A Seoul TV station recently cited documents reportedly signed by a Samsung executive in the U.S. that Lee would represent the company in a closed-door event at Van Nuys airport, apparently to promote a new television line.
Samsung this week struck back, vehemently denying that Lee had any connection to the family. “The evidence … submitted in attempts to prove that this U.S. citizen Lisette Lee is the granddaughter of the former Samsung chairman was forged,” a company spokesman said.
Seoul residents appear divided about the veracity of the story.
“I think it could be baloney. But it could be true as well,” said office worker Shin Bum-shik, 33, on Friday. “Anything’s possible with chaebols. It’s well known that these men in power have had many extramarital affairs.” [LA Times]
I seriously doubt she is a Samsung heiress, but the Marmot’s Hole has some information which I am skeptical of posted that supports her claim.

Not so sure, Tom. Her jaw, nose and lips look Korean (or at least Northeast Asian). But her forehead, hair, eyes (once you get past the awful makeup)and skin tone look Northern European. She's at best mixed Korean/American.

She looks like a Korean raised in the west that has had eye surgery and wears her hair in a way that is more western than Korean so of course she doesn't look totally Korean. I don't know if many of you have noticed (maybe you're not around the Korean/American community that much????), but a lot of Korean women raised in the west look NOTHING like Korean women raised in Korea.

Could be that her grandmother was white. Rich men have been known to keep mistresses, you know. Remember, she only claims her mother was the daughter of the Samsung founder, not she's the daughter of the Samsung founder and his wife.

What does she think coming out and saying she's a Samsung heiress will do for her? You think you'll get a free Samsung lawyer? Nah. By coming out you're damaging their name (which in some circles can't go much lower), and destroying your own as well.
'Do you know who I am?' never seems to work out if you've done something wrong.
