The totalitarians that wrap themselves in the cloak of “saving the environment” were out in force in Taiji, Japan protesting the annual dolphin hunt:
An unprecedented meeting between conservationists and leaders of the dolphin-hunting village depicted in the Oscar-winning film “The Cove” ended in bitter disagreement Tuesday.
The carefully organized meeting in Taiji was jolted beforehand when the film’s star, Ric O’Barry, said he would boycott because severe restrictions had been imposed on the media covering the talks.
Taiji’s hunt each year draws a range of protesters who videotape the slaughter and occasionally scuffle with local fishermen. This season – the first since the Oscar was awarded – the attention has been particularly intense, and the usually unresponsive town leaders agreed to a discussion at the town’s community center.
But the two-hour meeting was acrimonious from the start.
“There’s no compromise to be made. There will be no stopping of our activities until the harassment, capture and slaughter of both dolphins and whales on this planet ends,” said Sea Shepherd member Scott West, who has been in the area for nearly two months to monitor the hunts.
Village fishermen defended the hunt as part of a centuries-long tradition, pointing out that Westerners kill other animals for food. Activists countered that the killings are barbaric – and that dolphin meat is laced with dangerous toxins.
“It’s not right for you to force your values on us,” said Town Council chief Katsutoshi Mihara. [Stars & Stripes]
Read the rest at the link, but I have watched The Cove and thought it was a well put together documentary that was about as balanced as watching Fahrenheit 9/11. The dolphins are being hunted sustainably and it is even being done in Japanese waters unlike their whaling program. Like most people I like dolphins and I am not about to eat one, but if the Japanese want to eat a dolphin who are these green totalitarians to tell them they can’t?

Until "The Cove" premiered, I did not know the Japs continued the barbaric practice. When I saw the movie, I lost even more respect for the Japs just like when I learned of the atrocities Unit 731 committed during the years of WWII.
I did not know of the relationship the United States had with Saudi Arabia until Fahrenheit 9/11 premiered. For some narrow minded moronic loons, that movie was nothing more than Fiction created by Moore. For me, I listened and watched and then researched what I thought the individual subjects were. Turns out, there is a lot of stuff the narrow minded moronic loons are missing.
It is easier to listen to a fool with an open mouth than to study yourself. Maybe those ignorant narrow minded moronic loons should study for themselves.

Despite the fact that this is akin to the Koreans eating dogs and the hubbub some people have over that, you have to wonder why the Japanese would keep feeding their kids dolphin meat when it's been shown to be laced with mercury and other poisons the dolphins pick up through their consumption of smaller fish…?

Arrogance of western countries to dictate what everyone should do or not do.. getting real sick of it. Dog this dog that, on and on, beat the same crap issue all the time. They think they are so much better than anybody else. And people wonder why I bash on the West all the time, and get pleasure at their failures. Someday in not so into the future, it will be the Asians who will be telling you what to do. You better be ready for it.

Tom, I thought you Chinese ate cats. Is your lesbian team a bunch of vegans?

"you have to wonder why the Japanese would keep feeding their kids dolphin meat when it’s been shown to be laced with mercury and other poisons the dolphins pick up through their consumption of smaller fish…?"
Not to mention the other toxins they ingest by swimming and feeding in polluted waters.

…or rather, toxic materials. Toxins are produced by living organisms.

Hamilton, what business is it of your country if I eat cats or not?
Teadrinker, what business is it of your country if Japanese eat dolphins in polluted waters?
Why the West so nosey what others eat? Are you lords of heaven? Who made you gods?

Do you see Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, Africans, Indians, telling you Westerners what to eat and not to eat?
The only people who behave this way are the West and the Muslims. You guys have something very much in common – intolerance toward differences.

Tom Wrong again. Stop writing about western values that's a subject you know nothing about.

According to Forbes, China's Hu Jin Tao is the world's most powerful man in the world, not the US president Obama. In a few more years it will be the Chinese who will tell Americans what to eat and what not to eat, or else.

I agree with the other Tom on this issue. It is none of our f'ing business what the Japanese eat (I read somewhere that dolphin & whale meat taste like beef) or what anyone else eats for that matter. If you don't want to eat cetaceans like the Japanese or dogs like the Koreans then DON'T. Tom #12, it seems that you are looking forward to the Red Chinese being the predominate power in Asia. If you look at the conflicts that they started with India & Vietnam, the brutal suppression in Tibet, the total support given to the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime, the current support for the brutal regimes in Burma & North Korea, & the threats of military force to monopolize the resources of the nearby seas; I think you might need to do a rethink on your hope for a complete American exit from Asia. Had it not been for the US from 1941-1945 ALL of Korea would be speaking Japanese now & had it not been for the US from 1950-1953 ALL of Korea would be under the rule of the Kim regime.

#13, I don't look forward to the jjankke domination, as I find them as lieing vile sub humans. But it's also true that nothing can and will stop them. So I might as well enjoy high and mighty incessantly whining whities falling on their behinds. It's always fun to see the arrogant people fall and grovel. So we're trading one arrogant group of people who think they're gods, with another arrogant group of people who also think they're hot sh*t. So what, there's not much difference.

In other words, so what if white supremists get replaced by Chinese supremists. They're the same.

Except for maybe themselves and various other nations. Self-deception is a terrible thing to waste. You are a conservationist by which all standards are measured.

The Cats made me God Tommy Tang. Technically I am their Emperor since bull frogs have also petitioned me to be their deity. As God of the Cats I banish you to Cat hell upon you demise. You will be forced to play with a ball of string for all eternity….an White American Ball of string, at least 300lbs.
