Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner stalls Hotaru Ferschke Bill

What a complete @#%^! Jackass this Wisconsin piece of excrement is.

A bill that would allow a young Japanese widow to move to Tennessee with her toddler son has stalled again in the U.S. House and appears dead for the year.

U.S. Rep. John J. Duncan’s office said today that a key member of the House Judiciary Committee is refusing to fast-track the legislation, apparently dooming it for the year.

Duncan’s office would not name the congressman who is holding up the bill. But Robin Ferschke, a Maryville woman who is the Japanese widow’s mother-in-law, said it’s her understanding that the holdout is U.S. Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis.

“All of this politics stuff – I don’t understand,” Ferschke said. “I don’t care what it is. They need to make it happen. Whatever reason, it just doesn’t make sense anymore. It’s ridiculous. They get our hopes up, and then they crash it right back down.”

Sensenbrenner’s office confirmed that he opposes efforts to fast-track the bill.

“Congressman Sensenbrenner supports the bill on its merits, however, he opposes the process being used, as he feels legislation should be properly vetted by a committee and reported favorably out of that committee,” said his spokeswoman, Wendy Riemann.- Knoxville News Sentinel

Two years have passed since Michael Ferschke died.  It is way past time for Congress and this country to honor his widow. He gave his life for his fellow Marines, this piece of crap idiot Congressman, and  his nation.

Congressman Sensenbrenner’s nickname is ‘The Dictator’. Rolling Stone Magazine voted him #2 worst Congressman.  He’s got my vote for #1 among Republicans.

Here is the number for Congressman Sensenbrenner’s office.

No one is right all the time. No one is wrong all the time. There is probably more to this than we have been told. But the GOP lost me back in 2006…

Given most congressmen don't even bother to read the bills they sign, including the brick that was the Patriot "Kiss your rights goodbye" Act, I would love to hear how he'll try to rationalize his opposition.

I consider myself a conservative not a republican although I almost always vote republican. However I wouldn't vote for this worthless POS for dogcatcher. What in the hell is the f'ing holdup? This Marine gave his life in defense of our country. I understand that Washington, DC is the POLITICAL capital of our nation but POLITICS should not be in play here at all. I am reading this today, Saturday. I promise & I hope that every other person reading this will call Representative Sensenbrenner's number listed above on Monday. This whole thing is f'ing outrageous. If this matter is not fixed immediately I will donate to whomever his opponent is. If Kim Jong-un defects to the US, becomes a US citizen & resident of Wisconsin, and runs against him; he will get my vote.

    #7,

The hold up is that they didn't "consummate" the marriage. It's an antiquated law based on the judeo-christian (mostly christian) notion that marriage is not a financial arrangement or an expression of love between partners, but rather a means to procreate. Oh, but, whoops, they had a kid. I really wouldn't be surprised if the motives to prevent the bill from passing are based on religion, not common sense. Someone (or at least one person in particular) sees this bill as a repudiation of these religious biases and beliefs. Rationality and generosity quickly go out the window when certain people feel threatened. Never underestimate the pettiness of people.

Atwork #8, IF there was any doubt as to the paternity of the child (I've never heard that there was any doubt) then they could do a DNA test on the child to settle the matter. This whole matter really has me po'd. If there was a religious objection to having sex before the actual marriage would they rather that the mother have an abortion? Rev Pat Robertson of the 700 Club admitted that he had sex with his fiance before marriage, these things happen. I really don't want to get started talking about this whole episode because it upsets the **** out of me. I'll just say that this whole thing is wrong & that I intend to call Representative Sensenbrenner's office tomorrow & I hope that all the other posters who read this do the same.

A little about this great patriot (who has no military service) Jim Sensenbrenner, the great-grandson of a former Kimberly-Clark executive. Judging by his age I'd have to surmise he's possibly a draft dodger, or got a deferment. No wonder he can't relate to the trials and odd situations which can arise when a service member marries a foreign woman and has a child who is a US CITIZEN. His comfortable and cozy life experience hasn't afforded him the opportunity to turn his eyes toward these sinners.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Sensenbrenner

Sensenbrenner was born in Chicago, Illinois, into a wealthy family. He was raised in Shorewood, Wisconsin, and attended the private Milwaukee Country Day School, from which he graduated in 1961. He matriculated at Stanford University and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science in 1965. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1968.

While at Stanford, Sensenbrenner served as staff assistant to California Congressman J. Arthur Younger.

In 1977, Sensenbrenner married Cheryl Warren, daughter of former state attorney general and U.S. District Court Judge Robert W. Warren. The couple has two sons, Frank (born 1981), and Bob (born 1984). When not in Washington, Sensenbrenner resides in Menomonee Falls. His family also owns a summer home on Pine Lake near Delafield.

Sensenbrenner has a net worth of about $11.6 million. He has put his money into stocks, as detailed in the Congressional Record. The Sunlight Foundation pointed out that among the 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Sensenbrenner has the fourth-highest amount of investment in oil stocks.

In January 1998, Sensenbrenner won $250,000 on a D.C. Lottery ticket, purchased on December 18, 1997 at Congressional Liquors, the liquor store on Capitol Hill. He won $1,000 in the Wisconsin Lottery in the spring of 2007, and he won another $1,000 in that state's Super 2nd Chance lottery in September, 2007.

In August 2009, Sensenbrenner announced that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His doctor said the cancer was caught in the early stages when the cure rate is between 85-95 percent.

Sensenbrenner was the top-ranking House member in terms of travel costs paid by private interests from 2001 to mid-2005. In 2005, he reported more privately funded travel than any other member of Congress. Between January 2000 and July 2006, he took about $200,000 worth of privately funded travel.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner (heir to the Kotex fortune) I was right he IS a douche…

I did find it interesting to learn that the third highest financial contributor to The Honorable man from Wisconsin was his old pal Bud Selig in his post as the Commissioner of MLB. I can see why it might be important for the Commish to have a few friends in Washington just like this slimy dude.

He did eventually make it to Vietnam, in 2001.

On top of this he hates free speech. Sensenbrenner wants to apply criminal penalties for broadcast indecency—jail for swearing. Sensenbrenner and his supporters don’t know a damn thing about freedom or democracy; they may not even understand that they are clearly against these concepts. They are terrible, mindless, trained by decades of churchgoing into an unquestioning loyalty and a bitter resentment of dissent.

Representative Sensenbrenner supported the interests of the Disabled American Veterans 66 percent in 2006. (must be his guilty phantom conscience)

In 2006 Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave Representative Sensenbrenner a grade of C-

In 2007-2008 Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave Representative Sensenbrenner a grade of C.

On the votes that the Vietnam Veterans of America considered to be the most important in 1989-1990 , Representative Sensenbrenner voted their preferred position 0 percent of the time.

Representative Sensenbrenner sponsored or co-sponsored 0 percent of the legislation favored by the The Retired Enlisted Association in 2006.

Representative Sensenbrenner supported the interests of the Disabled American Veterans 0 percent in 2005.

Representative Sensenbrenner supported the interests of the Disabled American Veterans 0 percent in 2004.

SCUMBAG: In 2004, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, James Sensenbrenner (R-CA), took a trip to Bahrain to meet with Saleh Kamel, a Saudi billionaire who founded Al Shamal bank in Sudan that had held Al Qaeda accounts. A 1996 State Department report alleged that Osama bin Laden was a major investor in the bank.) Kamel’s name also appears on a list found during a terror financing raid in Bosnia, later introduced by US prosecutors of Al Qaeda’s top 20 financiers. Kamel is the chairman of the General Council of Islamic Banks, the group that organized the get acquainted meeting Sensenbrenner attended in Bahrain. Abramoff’s lobbying paid off for Kamel’s General Council of Islamic Banks with Sensenbrenner’s prepaid trip, where according to the Bahrain Embassy, he “pledged to support the spread of Islamic finance in the US.”

It’s against the law to solicit a trip or a gift of any value if you are a member of Congress. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is asking the Department of Justice to open an investigation into Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) to determine whether the congressman “violated federal law by soliciting a trip to Germany and Liechtenstein from the International Management and Development Institute (IMDI).”

The more you dig, the more you find.

Leon LaPorte #11. Saleh Kamel (or is it Camel), you have got to be kidding me, lol. This guy Sensenbrenner is a real piece of $h!+, excuse me piece of work. Are you serious about him being a heir to the Kotex fortune, if so then I can see him plugging up legislation. I guess we need to pull his string. He does seem to be clotting up progress. Chickenhead, we need your input here.

Leon LaPorte 10 says, "It’s just as easy to make the blanket statement 'the GOP is only in it for the cash (rich)' as it is to state 'the democrats are anti-military'."

The first of those blanket statements is true. The second is true of only a few members, and therefore, as a blanket statement, is false.

Leon LaPorte 11 examines Mr. Sensenbrenner's voting record. Where does he stand on climate issues?

  • Tom Langley

Glans #13. While I think ALL politicians on some level are in it for the rich I think that at least some issues it is the democrats are the one working for corporate interest. For example on the amnesty for illegal aliens (comprehensive immigration reform in liberal speak) a major pusher for this are corporations who want truckloads of cheap labor. The democrats also want these illegal aliens to become citizens so that they will have a new voting bloc. Another issue is that the democrats are opposed to tort reform because that would affect trial lawyers (like John Edwards) who get rich from lawsuits. If you want to know one reason that health care cost are so high just research the malpractice insurance fees that OB-GYN physicians & neurologist have to pay, in many places those types of physicians have had to close their doors denying those areas that type of care. On the 'global warming' issue the cap & trade legislation will hurt middle & working class people, the rich won't care because they can afford it.

Tom Langley 14, lawsuits have very little to do with our high helthcare costs. Doctors, hospital administrators, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and our dearest friends, the insurance companies, make health care expensive in the USA.

We have a two-party system: the fecklesscrats and the graspicans. And that makes a difference: the latter are worse than the former.

I do not see the point of blaming whether he has an R or D after his name. He is plainly just a turd. I do see where it may be possibl;e some scumbag religious crap could be in play here. Religion is the root of all evil, another prime example of so many.

Politics: Republicrats are two sides of the same coin in our current cleptocracy. They have us all fooled while we argue GOP and Democrat, they are at the country club sipping martini’s and laughing at all of us, and banking big time with their bribe money, er, campaign contributions.

Before digging so deep into the ethics and morality of Republicans (or Democrats – they are all politicians so neither party has any) why not just figure the guy's a bigot and be done with it? That's the simplest explanation that covers the facts. And where I live bigots are as likely to be Democrats as Republicans.

Democrats, Republicans – all the same to me. Why didn't the Democrats pass this when they had control of both houses of Congress? For the same reason they didn't repeal DADT or pass the comprehensive Gay and Gender Rights bill – they were playing "politics as usual".

Because in the Senate, with its arcane rules, any legislation can be held up by the whims of just ONE senator.
