F1 organizer Chung to sue over his dismissal
The initial construction cost for the Korean International Circuit was set at 340 billion won ($304 million), but KAVO received additional funds and spent around 400 billion won ($357 million).
Reports suggest that the additional funds had been given away to local construction firms as a pay-off to cancel contracts without paying exorbitant cancellation fees.
Chung denied any wrongdoing. However, the Board of Audit and Inspection is currently looking into issues surrounding Chung, including the cause of delays in construction and the need for extra funds.

Are you an Ex-pat? Do you like something about Korea? Tell me what you like.
I don't know why; but for me, the signage and the lively mood of markets like (in Seoul) Tongdaemun, Myungdong, Namdaemun, and (in Songtan) the Shinjang Shopping Mall are real draws.
I like the availability of mass-transit.
I also like convenience of Citibank.
There are a lot of things I don't like; but one can always find good and bad. I think today we should concentrate on the good…

Well…
I thought it was time you all saw a picture of me.
Now you know why most girls think I am tough, talented and quite attractive. Of course, when you radiate the image I do, you can't help but pick up pretty much unlimited poji.

Just stay clear of Safeway…

Determined to Strike
Here's Thomas E. Ricks' review of Peter Bergen's "The Longest War, The Enduring Conflict between America and Al-Qaeda". Ricks says this book "is the first to credibly cover the global sweep of events over the last 10 years, exploring not just American views but also Al Qaeda’s." But Ricks also says that Bergen discusses Israel's victory in 1967, which "… undercut socialist Arab nationalism and instead spurred the rise of Islamic exremism". It seems that Osama bin Laden thought the West was as weak as the Soviet bloc, and he expected an easy victory. But the Bush administration made some mistakes, too, and Bergen discusses them. Ricks says the book is fair and even-handed.

Setnaffa,
"Just stay clear of Safeway"
That's one thing I don't get.
If I ever freaked the hell out and decided some random people needed a good dose of killing, there is no way I'd go after a bunch of innocent fat-azzes in a McDonalds or a bunch of moderates at a sincere political event.
I can think of much better targets for a bit of spree killin'… maybe a NAMBLA meeting or a protest by Westboro Baptist Church.

G.E. venture Will share jet technology with China, say David Barboza, Christopher Drew and Steve Lohr in the New York Times. But don't worry: "To address American government security concerns, the joint venture in Shanghai will occupy separate offices and be equipped with computer systems that cannot pass data to computers in Avic’s military division, G.E. executives say. And anyone working in the joint venture must wait two years before they can work on military projects at Avic, they added. "

ChickenHead #4: I'm just not sure what to think of that photo
It's one of those things that's somewhat disturbing, but it's hard to take your eyes off it. I'm not sure if I'm lovesick, or just getting ill.
Is that stainless revolver a Ruger Security Six, or something else?
11:57 am on January 19th, 2011 11
Forget the possible Ruger. All eyes should be on the fearsome Tec-22…
…the absoulutely most awesome and powerful firearm money can buy…
…if you didn't have the extra hundred bucks to get a Tec-9 back in the 90s… and didn't realize that a tiny bit of gunsmithing could convert a real Ruger 10-22 into a quality "assault pistol"… for 70 bucks less.
None-the-less, when you learn that a man has a Tec-22, you know he intends to mean business… and you should show due respect.

#11 Tec-9. Check.
3:51 pm on January 19th, 2011 13
Retired GI,
C'mon, man…
Owning a Tec-9 (or any Cobray M10 variant) is like banging a fat chick.
It might be fun to blast every now and then… but you lose respect when you brag about it seriously.
If you need a high-cap 9mm, a Glock with a 30 round mag is really the weapon of choice… and the cost difference is little-to-nothing.
Further, if you really, really, really have to have an "assault pistol", get an HK SP89 (although a second mag is likely to cost more than a Tec-9).
In reality, without a shoulder stock, all those over-sized "pistols" are a pain…
…and, with less than a 16 inch barrel, the addition of a shoulder stock means about 10 years in prison… 5 for possession and 5 for manufacture of an unregistered SBR… because, of course, people possessing an arbitrarily "illegal" gun are far easier to bust than those who actually commit real crimes with real victims… but that's another story.
Anyway, upgrade your firepower, Retired GI!
The SKS (milled receiver) is an excellent rifle for the price… and certainly worth having behind the truck seat… but an AK or Mini-30 is probably better for a primary shooter… although it's nicer to have weapons that eat standard ammo… ie. 5.56 and 9×19.
…and sell that Tec-9 to a wannabe gangbanger (before it gets banned as a destructive device) at some inflated price and get a Glock 17 or 19.
And EVERYBODY should own a Ruger 10-22 (or more) with a bag of original factory magazines.
Anybody else have an opinion here?
5:41 am on January 20th, 2011 14
The Ruger 10-22 is a great choice, especially if you want to add on accessories. My grab and go carbine is (laugh if you want, but if you haven't used one you shouldn't) a scoped .40 cal. Hi-point carbine. Ugly and heavy, but accurate and extremely reliable. Only problem is the 10 round magazine, but I've got three extras. EDC's are weather dependent for me. I like my Kahr PM9 and P40. I'll also carry a Ruger LCR and a SP101 in .327 mag. If it's colder and I've got on heavier clothes, I'll take my .40 cal Browning Hi-Power. Then there's the gun safe full of rifles and shotguns. But, as you say, if guns are like fat chicks, you've got to find the ones you're comfortable with and you know won't let you down – even if they see you out with a sleeker model. And of course whether it's a gun or a less than slender girl, shot placement is of the utmost importance.

#13 ChickenHead, yea the Tec-9 is good for throwing bullets out there, but that's about it. Bought it early on. The Glock 17 I have. I like the 19 better. When I must cross into Tennessee, I carry a Walther P22. Small and light. Will provide what will most likely be needed until escape could be made.
I know nothing about the Ruger 10-22. What is the advantage in your opinion?

Retired GI,
The Ruger 10-22 has been around a long time and is a simple, reliable and tested design.
Although it has little need for improvement, there are many, many accessories available for it to customize it for your needs… although there are many that should be avoided… eg. all cheapo high-cap mags and clackity bullpup stock conversions.
You can build a fantastic closet commando gun to show off to those who get their weapons knowledge from the latest Hollywood "blockbuster"…
…or you can build something more functional… if thy will not hang too much shyt off thy rifle.
The older ones had aluminum receivers and lowers with forged steel internals. The new ones have polymer lowers, polymer triggers with metal inserts for contact points and cast hammers. Cheaper to make… but crap compared to the older ones.
As people wear out faster than Ruger 10/22s, they are so common that a good used one can be had for less than a hundred bucks… and a beat one can probably be had for 50… and every replacement part is available… and can be replaced at home.
Depending on use, I think a stainless one in a quality folding stock with a 4x scope raised over the iron sights makes a nice rifle to keep around.
You won't hold off any black helicopter assaults… but you will always be able to eat critter… and, as you can shoot 1 inch groups at 100 meters with good ammo out of the factory barrel, if you ever decide to be an urban sniper with a PVC suppressor, neither The Man nor the invading Grays or Reptilians will be safe from your rimfire wrath.
Plus, with .22LR, it is cheap to feed so the fun never runs out.
You can even seex it up with this drop-in conversion:
http://krinkerplinker.com/
…or this an AUG or Walther clone:
http://www.popmech.ru/images/upload/vek_bullpapa_…
…so you can have LOTS of fun at a very cheap price and raise more eyebrows at the range (in a good way) than with a Tec-9.
I hope that got you thinking, Retired GI…
…have fun and good shootin'!
