Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Pleads Guilty For Sexual Misconduct & Adultery

Here is a weird criminal story for all you Zoomies out there:

A senior Ohio Air Force base official pleaded guilty on Monday to sexual misconduct and adultery, blaming extramarital affairs he had with married female subordinates and inappropriate sexual advances he made toward others on getting “caught up in a cycle of sin.”

Chief Master Sgt. William Gurney was the senior enlisted man at the Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, when allegations of sexual impropriety surfaced in 2009.

While entering his guilty pleas to 13 counts at Scott Air Force Base in southwestern Illinois, the 27-year Air Force veteran told Air Force Col. W. Thomas Cumbie, the military judge overseeing his case, about indiscretions dating back to mid-2007. He said he had had sex with four married women based at Wright-Patterson who were lower in rank than him, and that he exchanged sexually explicit pictures with and kissed or fondled female subordinates.

Gurney also told Cumbie that he twice had sex with his wife in front of a married enlistee whose husband was unaware.  [Associated Press]

It just makes you wonder how long and how many duty stations has be been doing this?  Does anyone reading this know this guy and can provide any background information?

Rehab is the refuge for celebrities who get caught screwing up. Religion is the escape for all others.

There was a former Sergeant Major of the Army who got caught up will sexual harassment, there was a sergeant major who grabbed his driver's junk after some back & forth bragging, there was a Canadian general who got caught in some sexual shenanigans, & now this. I guess after climbing the ladder to the top some people just think that they are bulletproof. As Ron White says: "You can't fix stupid."

Another good example of why the military needs MOS "69s", "69bj".

Another thought: I'm sure he thought he was getting "free-sex" rather than paying for it.

I have to agree with George Carlin here. "F—ing is legal. Selling is legal. Why isn't selling F—ing legal?" Not exact quote.

Got something to do with religion? Those pesky Vows?

One thing is sure: He didn't pay for sex with money, but he sure is going to PAY for it.

Teadrinker #6, The Canadian general whom I was referring to was BG Daniel Menard, the former Commander of Canadian forces in Afghanistan who was busted for having an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate. I could have added Col Bernard Ouellette, the Canadian Commander of the UN mission in Haiti who was also busted for an inappropriate relationship. The serial killer & rapist that you were referring to was Col Russell Williams who had even flown Queen Elizabeth. All the Americans & Canadians that have been discussed are disgraces to their respective uniforms.

I worked under Chief Gurney. He was a great guy. I hate how bitter women and the media and the ugly face of the military ruin a good party….

Another one who abuses his "Implied Big Rank" to get the goodies on the job. Fire him and bust him to an lower enlisted rank..no retirement pay. He is a Jerk and should be thrown in jail for his lack of military values.

#10 A good rule of thumb for guys in uniform, is to never allow a female in uniform to be alone with you, even briefly.

(just not possible to treat them as equals) Too dangerous.

While I believe almost no consensual sex should be criminalized and the JAG tacked on the gratuitous adultery charge, this guy plead guilt to a crime. His unpardonable offense was having sex with subordinates and compromising his position.

Since he had sex with his wife in front of at least one of these women I'm sure she knew about his "shenanigans" and probably participated more often than not, which makes the adultery on his part doubly shaky. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some wife swapping going on.

    #9,

I had guessed you were probably talking about Menard or Ouellette, but I just couldn't resist it.

    #10,

"I was caught in a cycle of sin before admitting he "failed not only as an airman but as a husband."

Well, since he shared everything with his wife…
