Seen here is Arai Mahomed, a Somali pirate who is suspected of having shot Seok Hae-kyun, the captain of the rescued cargo ship Samho Jewelry, during a rescue operation by South Korean naval special forces on Jan. 21. Arai and four other Somali pirates were flown to South Korea after being captured by the forces. [Yonhap]

Is this one of the fine gentlemen that voiced his wanting to seek asylum in the ROK? Great photo! Superficially speaking, he looks like he will be welcomed with open arms.

Frankly I'm quite surprised no-one has yet said they are being treated with hateful racism by Koreans. Because every thread about foreigners in Korea is about racism.

#4,
Don't kid yourself. You're a foreigner, too.
1:52 pm on February 11th, 2011 6
Come to think of it, these pirates aren't Americans. If they were, the racism card would be pulled, and their actions diced and sliced and examined, and then excused in subtle manners (eg. Koreans do it too why they blame it on foreigners), and blamed on Korean racism.

#7, LOL!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracy
Piracy, except as defined by bleeding heart facilitators of said activity is traditionally held to be a crime against humanity. All Pirates ought to be hanged and left for the sport of the crows.
Only THC-sodden useful idiots confuse movie pirates with these maritime members of al Qaeda…

The pirate said, "They may never free us."
"But it's OK if they pay to house and feed us."
"It is true that they own us,
but it's worth the bonus.
I got this really cool shirt from Adidas!"

When in Korea, do as Koreans do Tom, it's you Koreans who are so found of saying that.
You shouldn't be surprised when foreigners do it, you people tell us to so much. Yup, foreigners learning from the greatest victims in the world.

Chickenhead #9, The Master! Maybe the ROK Army could make a deal with the surviving pirates. Have them walk back & forth in a grid pattern in the DMZ & if any of them don't get blown up by landmines then set them free & fly them back to Somalia. Warn the freed pirates however that if they resume piracy then they will be required to help the ROK Army by working on their sniper course: as targets!

With less fanfare, on the same day the ROK Navy captured these pirates the Malaysian Navy also captured some Somali pirates. Because those pirates returned fire on the Malaysian forces that put most them on course for a mandatory death sentence. Three of the seven are 15 years old or under all will exempt them from the lethal punishment.
Malaysia is also known to have a more expedited justice process and nobody seems to care whether the captives like the food.

If you are a pirate in international waters and you commit a crime against property of any nation, you must face the punishment of that said nation. If I were a pirate, I might try Swiss shipping!

These pirates have no class, no pizzazz…

I'm probably going to hell for this…
Of all the pictures they could have released, why was it this one?
This pirate comes from a desolate desert wasteland, goes out to the middle of the open ocean in a rickety wooden boat, boards a solid steel ship while tightly gripping an AK, winds up shackled to a plastic seat in a titanium airplane under constant guard, ends up locked in a barren concrete cell in a frozen Korean city surrounded by highrises and heavily forested mountains…
…and still manages to pick a handful of cotton.
Talk about perpetuating a stereotype.
OK,Ok,ok… that was a completely racist joke. There is no denying. There is no sugarcoating. There is no rationalization or diversion.
There is, however, an explanation.
If not taken seriously and not expressed with some kind of racial hatred, it was funny as hell… just as NASCAR and blond jokes are funny about white people…
…although there are more toothless sister-lovin' NASCAR fans and air-headed blonds alive today than slaves who picked cotton… so, perhaps, NASCAR and blond jokes are actually more offensive… but they are just too dumb to know.
None-the-less, I certainly welcome feedback and will consider any criticism for sharing an innocent and un-ill-intentioned joke that some might be offended at in today's hyper-sensitive and overly politically correct society.

As an American whitey, I found the cotton joke damn funny. Since I'm already in hell, I don't give a rat's *ss!
Some skills seem to be genetically inherent
Neither location nor climate can hinder the cotton picking skills of the people sans hills!

You racist fools need to ask why and what were those KOREANS and any of those other hijacked FOREIGNERS doing in SOMALI waters. The Somalis do have the sovereign right to their own coast as every other nation on this planet does, but wait, they are NIGGERS, and they do not count as humans with rights that the rest of the world has to respect.
Could it be illegal dumping, illegal fishing because the KOREANS and other FOREIGNERS have fished out their own seas and are only following their master's example? No you can't bother to do that, so you come up with your usual racist assumptions.
God knows everybody else knows what best for the niggers. Including KOREANS too. Just in case you did not know KOREANS, you are also NIGGERS to the white man. Keep fooling yourselves!!

Cuffy #19. I'm sure that the ships involved were in INTERNATIONAL waters, not the territorial waters of Somalia. I believe that international waters are those waters further than 12 miles from a countries coast in terms of transit. There is an economic zone that extends 200 miles off the coast. The Somalis who engaged in these actions were PIRATES. President Thomas Jefferson sent American forces to fight pirates (remember in the Marine hymn "to the shores of Tripoli") off of Libya. Your racial diatribe has no relevance to the discussion. If someone threatens Americans ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD the American government has the duty to protect American lives & property. That's why the US government exist. The same duty exist for the Korean government protecting Korean citizens. If you f**k with American citizens then you will get f**ked.

From my favorite movie of 2010:
Barney Ross: What the hell's he doing?
Lee Christmas: Hanging a pirate.
Barney Ross: Don't be ridiculous. Gunnar! What are you doing?
Gunnar Jensen: Hanging a pirate.
Toll Road: That's seriously demented.
Barney Ross: Gunnar, you know that's not the way we work.
Gunnar Jensen: But it's good to hand pirates, he'd do the same to us

So I wan wondering when usual the comments like #19 blaming Koreans for everything.
It's obvious why the lack of comments like #19 here. It's because Western ships are targets of pirates as well. It would look silly on white supremists to blame this on Koreans if the same blame will be on the West as well..
