Judging by the number of reports Amnesty International has issued this year on the human rights situation in North Korea the answer to the above question would be no since they have not issued one North Korea related report this year on their website. Despite tens of thousands in gulags, state sponsored starvation, executions among a host of other North Korea related human rights abuses, Amnesty couldn’t be bothered to write one word about it.
But guess which country they are concerned about human rights violations, those evil South Koreans of course. This year they have released 7 reports critical of the South Korean government while issuing none critical of North Korea:

Like I mentioned earlier this week while Amnesty International cannot find time to write a word on the human rights conditions in North Korea, but they have been busy calling someone who is watching TV all day in pre-trial confinement “inhumane treatment“.
If people want to donate money to a worthy human rights cause they would be better off sending their money to organizations like Liberty in North Korea or the North Korea Freedom Coalition than these frauds at Amnesty International.

You're preaching to the choir on this issue. Amnesty International doesn't care about the people in North Korea. Not one bit.

If you pour apt buckle of water on a four-alarm fire, does it do any good. That Amnesty has no pull or influence in NK makes anything they regarding NK ineffective at best. At least people in SK might listen.

Here's the thing though. No one needs to highlight the situation in North Korea, we all realize how deplorable it is; however, probably the total extent of it is unfathomable. Most of us cannot comprehend an environment where citizens are so hungry they are eating human meat, etc.
Now for South Korea, people assume that South Korea is free and is taking care of it's citizens. It's extremely important to point out when justice is not being done in a country like Korea or even the US where a small slip in freedoms is not easy to undo.

#3 Nathan that is unadulterated BS. By continuing to ignore the conditions in totalitarian countries, AI gives the Third World the impression that Democracies are evil. They are willing or unwitting tools of the dictators.
May they reap exactly what they have sown. And may the rest of us manage to send the world a truer message…
(BTW, what exactly is wrong with a country wanting to deport illegal aliens or foreign trouble-makers?)
