I like looking at old pictures of Korea and I came upon a nice Facebook photo album of Korea from 1969-1970. This is a picture from the album of what it was like to cross over Freedom Bridge and the Imjim River back then. Freedom Bridge can still be seen today, but the multi-lane Unification Bridge is now the primary way to access the DMZ area north of Paju.

One of my profs here in Hawaii grew up as a missionaries' kid in Taejŏn and Seoul, and I've been trying to get her to put her pictures up from the 1960s and 1970s. Apparently some of her classmates have already done that. It's always cool to see the old stuff.

Aw how I remember all those trips across Freedom Bridge; looking out the windows and seeing all of the bullet holes in the supports and knowing it was wired with explosives.
Those were good times, and most South Koreans were extremely grateful for us being there!

Dayum! (as the kids say these days)
