Masters Sunday Update- K.J. Choi tied for 2nd, 1 shot behind Rory McIlroy with 9 holes to go

» by in: Sports Related

Update- The Masters has heated up all right. Rory McIlroy’s 4-shot lead has shrunk to 1 over K.J. Choi, Angel Cabrera, and Charl Schwartzel . Tiger Woods and two other golfers are two shots back.  What a race it is. The real tournament starts now.

Another Update- Choi parred the 10th hole, Adam Scott made birdie on 11 to pull into the 2nd place tie. More importantly, McIlroy is butchering the 10th hole. He hit his drive way left between 2 houses(I have never seen anyone hit it in that area in 33 years of viewing this this tournament.  He punched out his 2nd. Then hooked his 3rd on a par 4 way left again. Then hit a tree with his McIlroy could make triple bogey or worse. Even if he makes a miracle double bogey. Choi is tied for the lead with 8 holes to go.

Final update- Charl Schwartzel of South Africa defeated Australians Jason Day* and Adam Scott by two shots. Choi made bogey on the last two holes to finish tied for 8th.

*- Day is Filipino/Australian. His parents were penpals. I know a few Filipinas who met their spouses that way.

The rest of my original post is below.

McIlroy is -12 for four rounds and has a four-shot lead over Choi, Jason Day, Charl Schwartzel, and 2009 Masters Champion Angel Cabrera.

K.J. shot a one under 71 in round three. He was paired with Tiger Woods. Woods is at -5 going into Sunday’s play or 7 shots behind McIlroy.

South Korean Y.E. Yang is at -4, 8 shots behind McIlroy. To honest, Woods and Yang would need a miracle to win today.

Choi on the other hand has a legitimate shot. He did pull into a tie for  lead briefly during Saturday’s round till bogeys on holes 11 and 12 dropped him two shots back. He birdied 13 and then made 5 straight pars coming in. In the meantime McIlroy was playing the back nine in 3 under par.

My prediction- McIlroy wins by 3 today. If things get interesting for Choi, I might live blog the round like I did with Y.E. Yang’s last few holes at the 2009 PGA Championship.

Choi, is a choke! Rory McIlroy collapse gives Charl Schwartzel the green jacket at Augusta National. K.J. got a good view of how it's done these days, he played with C. Schwartzel.

I'd like for Kushibo to explain what I found when I googled "kushiboincahootsmagazine"

"…Online, these fake IDs are called sock puppets, for obvious reasons. You'll hear people say something like, "Nora is a sock puppet of Kushibo," and that means that someone who originally gave his name as "Kushibo" created a secondary identity, "Nora," for the purposes of supporting anything that "Kushibo" says. Some trolls will create a large number of such sock puppets. One fellow well known in the Anglophone blogosphere in Korea reputedly has such a penchant for creating sock puppets that hardly a year goes by before some colourful online character–a half-Korean lesbian Republican in the USA, a half-Japanese Korean man studying in Hawaii, a Korean lawyer who emigrated to California as an adult–is outed as a sock puppet of the same loony guy."

Congrats Charl Schwartzel, he birdied the last 4 holes on Sunday which had never been done before at a Masters Tournament.
