Can someone help me to an understand an underground runway? Is it intended for airplanes? Is there an opening where they come out? Can the the runway be easily disabled by bombing this opening? And in general, please explain how it works and how it's protected.

I saw a guy hit a half-buried WWI bomb with a rock.
