
The Memorial Hall of Admiral Yi Sun-shin opens in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, on the 466th anniversary of his birth on April 28, with Prime Minister Kim Hwang-shik attending the opening ceremony. The admiral (1545-1598) is a national hero, who led naval victories during the Japanese invasion in the late 16th century. Asan is his birthplace. (Yonhap)

#3: If he was it actually wouldn't be all that out there. Admiral Yi was thought of fairly highly by the Imperial Japanese Navy and Admiral Togo conducted some sort of ceremony paying homage to Yi just before the Battle of Tsushima.

What's in the museum? I hope it's light on the nationalistic rhetoric and heavy on historical accuracy…and for that to be it must have genuine artifacts in its collection and exhibitions, not some grandiose reproductions aimed at captivating highly impressionable youth.
