How to Win a War #15:  Use ammunition that never runs out…

The Korean media and society can work up a firestorm over pollution anywhere in Korea around US bases any time they want.  They used to about once a year, but not against Korean conglomerates or factory areas or Korean military bases…

Just as I thought (something I mentioned in another thread), all they found (and expected to find) are traces, which is what you’d expect to find if dioxins were buried there at one point and quickly removed.

PS. I remember watching in the late 80′s an episode of The Nature of Things (an amazing TV show still hosted by Prof. David Suzuki on the CBC), where he discussed one of the most polluted ponds/streams (I can’t remember) in North America at the time (all I remember is that it’s located in Ontario). It had one of the highest dioxin levels ever measured in a stream/pond in North America…didn’t stop people from going swimming in it despite the posted warnings.

Again, I have not seem their criteria for action level. No contamination? I hope so. Then sampling, analysis and QA/QC for data should be informed to the public. GIs are not Korean. US must protect its own people.

#2 Have you call to ask them? Emailed? Do you expect them to print all the technical details in the newspapers?

#3, believe or not. That’s the rule in US. US citizen including GIs has a right to know, And US gov. must protect its own people and reputation. I do not why USFK can not say they are superior than Korean’s investigation methods and analytical capability. It seems to me that USFK does not know how to handle or not have scientific data. My experience with several contamination litigation cases, data gap is the most weak point.
