In other news, there was less interest in the US, particularly Madison, where the “slut walk” was a bust.

“Slut walk”, just another nonsense Koreans imports from western countries to feel like a more “developed” and “modern” country. Koreans in Korea need to stop with this inferiority complex towards western societies and learn to give more credit to its own values. Social Darwinism in Korea still has strong influence over Korean’s minds.

What did it actually accomplish? Nothing. But someone feels better because they got to wear a thong and yell in public. BTW, do you think any of the usual “Adjoshis with cameras” show up to take pictures? You better believe it. Take a look at this article. http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2939065

Weren’t you suggesting a while ago that K-Pop was a Korean culture export?
5:34 pm on July 19th, 2011 5
#4 Yes he was JoeC. But now it’s a “slut walk”. So now they are trying to be more Western. Yu is so very insecure.
7:44 pm on July 19th, 2011 6
JoeC #4, Yes I did, but why are you bringing this issue here???
8:53 pm on July 19th, 2011 7
That is a “slut walk”?
Girls at my parties dress sexier than what this picture shows.
Hot pants and mini-dresses are the current trends… and, by hot pants, I don’t mean the shorter-than-average shorts of a few years ago (or what is in this picture)… I mean real hand-cut jean shorts that are thinking about going up on the sides… although they are not showing any cheek… yet.
In reality, girls who dress slutty are great. Girls who act slutty are not. Girls who use sluttiness as a weapon or an anti-statement are disgusting.
Hopefully Korean girls will continue wearing sexy Western-influenced clothes but let the crappy attitude stay in the West.

if that is referencing Madison WI the reason it would be a bust is because no one wants to see fat white farms girls dressed as sluts to begin with!

It is true that women should not be blamed for sexual assults no matter where they come from. But I do believe that you can help yourself by not being to flirty and making sure that you are never on your own when out and about.

#3,
Whatever man. I have my fingers crossed that the Go-Topless Day catches on.
PS. Obscuring her face with pixels? Defeats the message, doesn’t it?

The “Whatever man” was directed at #2, not #3.

#4,
Ironically, these ladies are not dressed any sluttier than the members of most K-pop girl groups.

“PS. Obscuring her face with pixels? Defeats the message, doesn’t it?”
In case you don’t get it, I was suggesting that it shows that many in Korea are still threatened by women being self-assertive (and by the looks of the comments, some of you guys too).
7:14 am on July 20th, 2011 14
I mean it’s all run and games until they say no mid-coitus and then they’re like “why did you stop?” And you’re like “can you sign this form please?”
7:30 am on July 20th, 2011 15
I’m a big believer in “can you sign this Form”.
I love those “self-assertive” women. If you show it, then expect to be looked at. It won’t be for you’re self-assertiveness either. Don’t get confused!

Look at me! Look at me! I’m so insecure I need leering….so I can b!tch about the leering later and have something to talk about.

Something we can ALL enjoy! Next time they do this it would be nice if they gave us a heads up.

#12. I couldn’t agree more.
#13. Probably you are right, since Korea is a Confucian society and regards to women a passive role. Now frankly speaking, calling themselves slut is not going to give them any credibility since what women want is not being treated like man, but with respect, as women deserves, and rallying in the street calling themselves slut is just going through the opposite way to what they are claiming.
Now, if there is something that really bothers me about the koreans living in Korea is their passivity toward western culture. It is a shame how they simply accept as a undispuble fact that whatever the West has is better than whatever Korea has. I experienced this Korean nonsense while in Europe and it was really a frustrating experience …

#15,
Aren’t you married?
9:24 pm on July 20th, 2011 20
No! Haven’t found an up side to it — yet. But it does work for 1/2 the population, or so they say.

Women’s clothes are an issue in another Asian country.

Sorry for the later response. This thread got buried before I notice.
What I meant @4 was, the same criticism you had @2 can be applied to K-Pop. There is little about K-Pop that is traditionally Korean or even Asian.
As far as slut walks are concerned, I don’t have a problem with it. It just seems to be a phase people (women in this case) go through to assert their liberation and freedom of expression. Even in my lifetime, I equate it to the hippy ‘free love’ movement and feminists’ bra burning exhibitions of the 60s and 70s. Even much earlier, I think there were some elements of it with the flappers in the 20s and 30s.

Yeah, you’ll never see a slut walk for Iran or anti-land mine activists protesting IEDs…

“The statistics of divorce, crime and rape are up due to the improper hijab,” Ayatollah Nasser Marakem-Shirazitold the Mardom-Salari newspaper in June.
It couldn’t be because Iran has a massive HEROIN problem? It’s the Hijab!
Oh wait, Iran basically runs methadone clinics to keep the druggies dependent on the government. Hmmm, and women are under the control of the religious police. It couldn’t be that the theocracy is really using religion to hide behind its own corruption could it?
