This is not good news for Samsung:
A Dutch court has banned the sale of Samsung Electronics’s Galaxy series of smartphones. The Rechtbank ‘s-Gravenhage, a court in the Hague, imposed the ban on the Galaxy S, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Ace smartphones, according to blog FOSS Patents.
But Samsung’s other smartphones and its tablet PC Galaxy Tab 10.1 are excluded from the ban. The ruling will take effect on Oct. 14.
In June, Apple filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Samsung claiming the Korean IT giant illegally copied 10 of its patented technologies and designs. Apple also filed for an injunction to halt the import and sales of Samsung smartphones and tablet PCs.
The court ruled Samsung had not infringed Apple’s copyrights in nine patents but decided the Korean company illegally copied the U.S. firm’s photo-flicking technology that makes images on a smartphone seem like they are bouncing on a spring when being flipped over. [Chosun Ilbo]
You can read more at the link but the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has also been banned in Germany due to the copyright issue with Apple.

This is good news for Samsung. The Dutch court threw out 9 out of 10 Apple claims against Samsung. The only one that got stuck by accident was a minor one. And Samsung had nothing to do with that, because it’s part of the Google Android O/S. Samsung can easily avoid the ban if they change the code in the phone by Oct 13.

On a related note, Steve Jobs resigns.

“Samsung can easily avoid the ban if they change the code in the phone by Oct 13.”
If it’s so easy why haven’t they done it yet? I bet they don’t change nothin, even though that would be the wise thing to do.

I think this is ridiculous. Many 80′s low budget TV shows had a similar affect, if not the same.

…I meant one of those cheesy transitions that became popular with the first video editing programs.

Umm, this was actually a loss for Apple. Sometimes it helps to read more than just the headlines of MSM.
Here’s what really went down.

The offending photo app (the only one out of 10 patents that Apple sued samsung and won) was something that ‘GOOGLE’ added in stock Android 2.x. And the judged saw that the damage is little, to the point that he specifically gave samsung enough time to fix the software, which can fixed via OTA update.

Samsung didn’t need to before the judgment. But now that the judgment came down, samsung will updates phones out there via OTA update. Not a big issue. AND the photo app was added by Google, not samsung.
