Going to try out a variation of this recipe for Curry Kimchee.jeon. Basically I’ll take a 부침가루/curry ratio of 7 to 1 and let you guys know how it turns out.

Horrible. Tastes like coffee grinds, gingerbread cookies, curry, and sand. It’s spicy at the tip of the tongue and in the throat going down. 2 out of 5

Summer is ending and I realized that I didn’t have any pictures of my awesome swimsuit for this season.

So, I whipped out my camera and took a couple.

This is NOT SAFE FOR WORK.

Topless double-D Korean girls with ChickenHead panties are frowned upon in most professional environments.

Virgina man sentenced for harboring juicies. I agree with the comments section. Go after Mexicans who take real jobs, not juicies…

UN peacekeepers ‘traded food for sex with underage girls’

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2032951/WikiLeaks-releases-U-S-diplomatic-cable-exposing-scandal-U-N-peacekeepers-traded-sex-food-underage-girls.html

United Nations peacekeepers in the Ivory Coast enticed underage girls to trade sex for food, according to a U.S. Embassy cable released by WikiLeaks.

The cable, written in January, 2010 focuses on the behavior of Beninese peacekeepers stationed in the war-torn western town of Toulepleu.

A random poll of 10 underage girls by aid group Save The Children UK in 2009 found that eight performed sexual acts on a regular basis in exchange for their most basic needs.

    John in NY,

    Did you like my swimsuit?

And, I must truthfully say again…

Topless double-D teenage Korean professional female fashion models are frowned upon in most professional environments.

An open local interest question for GI Korea or anyone with knowledge of the Uijongbu area. I visted an apartment complex called “Brown Stone” over the weekend. The hill just behind the apartment area has a mild hiking trail located along its ridgeline that is populated with miles of sandbagged trenches and old TOW firing bunkers, etc. What is that hill called? It was getting dark when I was there so I could only go a few km out, but it seemed to be a long trial, with many more km to go. It was busy with walkers too. Of course some were wearing spikes on their boots, as noted by GI Korea in previous posts. I have read the summaries of Uijongbu hiking on ROK Drop but I have never seen this trail mentioned. Am I confusing it with one of the ones you have noted before? How far does it go?

Here’s a weird post from kushibo’s blog. Kim Jongil changed the Arirang fest to suit American tastes: he took out the missile launch. Read it at monster-island.

Expat I’m not sure where this hill is that you are referring to. What part of Uijongbu is the Brown Stone apartments located at?

Thanks GI Korea. I am not familiar with other landmarks in Uijongu. It is just off of the main highway from Seoul though, south side. Up on the trail I saw a sign post that said ‘Angel Valley” 1.4 km in a South direction. The same signpost noted “Jikdong Park” was 1.2 km to the North. I can see the “twin towers” from your artcle looking northwards from the hill. It is not a “mountain”, but rather a fairly high hill with a trail on its ridgeline. It has a whole series of “TACP” positions and TOW missile bunkers, along with the miles and miles of sand bagged trenches. The bunkers have a straight view down onto the low lying bend in the highway going up the gap to the North. I have some pics but not loaded for sending right now. How can I best send pics to you? I can send some later. Thanks.

Anybody know about allegations that the latest Army uniform is… wait for it… complete crap supplied by the lowest bidder?

I haven’t been paying attention but this came my way via a British paper.

Well Expat buddy, sorry I missed you during my last visit. I’ll be back in Korea in September and will be staying for quite some time. Next time you’ll have to drag me home instead of me dragging you home though! Your wife won’t like me if I have to drag you home more than once stone cold drunk!

SKorea buying Israeli rockets to deter NKorea

    http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iJfbBqwFLA94E1s0060Nh60l4OYA?docId=6b7d68478ece4811abf2d7f70aef399e

South Korea has struck a $43 million deal with an Israeli company to buy advanced rockets to protect a front-line area attacked by North Korea last year, officials said Tuesday.

South Korea will deploy 67 Spike NLOS rockets on Baengnyeong and Yeonpyeong islands in the Yellow Sea as early as late this year, a South Korean government arms procurement official said. Four South Koreans were killed on Yeonpyeong when the North shelled it last November.

Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems says the rockets can fly up to 15 miles (25 kilometers) and hit hidden targets. South Korea has been struggling to find ways to take out North Korea’s hidden coastal artillery should it attack again.

Mich. governor signs 48-month welfare limit

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44416871/ns/politics/#.TmiELWHYxe9

LANSING, Mich. — Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday signed into law a stricter, four-year lifetime limit on cash welfare benefits, prompting advocates for the poor to warn that tens of thousands of residents will find themselves without cash assistance on Oct. 1.

Michigan’s first-year Republican chief executive said the state will offer exemptions to the limit for those with a disability who can’t work, those who care for a disabled spouse or child and those who are 65 or older and don’t qualify for Social Security benefits or receive very low benefits.

Some recipients who are the victims of domestic violence also may be temporarily exempted.

Y’all see where this is going.

The state with the best welfare…

    …gets to…

    …pay more welfare.

Even liberals are won’t join that race to the bottom… or will they?

    …although a good question is…

What will these unsocialized and skill-less people do after there is no more welfare?

I guess getting shot is a good option.

On 9/11, two brave Air Force pilots took off to bring Flight 93 down. But their F-16s were unarmed! They planned to ram the Boeing 757 – a suicide mission. Here’s their story.

More storm trooper theatrics against Google Korea.

If there is a complaint about anti-competitive features in Google’s Android operating system, raiding regional administrative offices probably wouldn’t reveal much. Android is open source. Everyone is free to download the source code and see for themselves exactly what it does and how it does it.

If the complaint is that Google requires that it’s search engine and other apps be installed for a handset to get certified, well that too has been disproven in several instances.

Perhaps the complaints should be directed at the Korean handset makers, like Samsung, since they are the ones making the choices on how their phones are configured and what apps are preinstalled.

On second thought … a raid on Samsung? Oh, never mind.
