    #1,

Depends on whether the restaurant owner is aware of the stereotype, which I doubt that he or she does. It would certainly have racist undertones if the restaurant was in the US.

    UPDATE!:

Obama Fried Chicken forced to change name to UFO amid KFC threat
A fast-food restaurant in China has had to change its name from Obama Fried Chicken to UFO after KFC threatened legal action, saying the logo infringed on its trademark rights.

NYC’s ‘Obama fried chicken’ restaurants ruffle feathers
    Friday, April 03, 2009

Two city fast-food joints are calling themselves Obama Fried Chicken – and the new names are ruffling some feathers.

Eateries in Brooklyn and Manhattan plastered the new President’s last name on their awnings recently.

And some passersby are cringing, saying the name change plays into old racial stereotypes.

“Why name it that? Just because Obama is black, they’re going to put his name on a fried chicken place in a black neighborhood?” said Akilah Nassy, 16, outside the Brooklyn store.

Then again, are stereotypes born in a vacuum?

When I imagine people who like fried chicken and watermelon, I think of Koreans.

And I’m not alone. Some politicians are completely unaware of any stereotypes involving Blacks and particular foods.

Truth be told, THIS is what I’d prefer to associate with watermelon.

    NICE WATERMELON Kushibo.

Oh and I told you it would “ruffle feathers”.

As for my own observations; I see more Blacks, African Americans, People of Color (whatever they want to be called this year) than I do Anglos. Much more.

conclusion: Leon is correct. Stereotypes are not born in a vacuum. Granted, it was a question but —-

President Obama will go down in the history of not only the U.S. but the world as one of the greatest leaders ever lived.

    Heil to the President.

** I would love to have that piece of fried chicken…

did you mean hail or heil? one of those is commonly used in praising the commander in chief, the other was used for a guy in germany not so long ago.

“That bloke in Germany had a lot in common with the geezer in the White House today.”

They both went to war in North Africa, the both had a black upper lip, and they both turned up the heat on the Jews?

-does the menu include an over priced chicken dinner that everyone in the resturant has to pay for everytime anyone else comes into the store?

I don’t know if anyone listened to Lee Myung-bak’s address to Congress but he said he liked eating the fried chicken in America.

most of the time i prefer korean fried chicken joints over american. kfc and popeye’s don’t serve beer which i have always believed to be a potential goldmine for a chicken joint.

I have met some pretty racist asians. Perhaps it has to do with the largely homogenous population of these countries?
