Picture of the Day: The World According To Americans

» by in: Humor

A friend on Facebook sent this to me and sadly there is some truth to this funny map.  However, shouldn’t Canada be igloos?  Also I guess Korea got wrapped in with China and Japan.

Google Translate renders kangaji 3 thus: Evil Doer in the east of the country is the wolnam …

I didn’t know Wolnam was an island.

US public education at its finest in that map..

I also wonder who the other evil doers off shore near Hong Kong are. Hainan Island is too detailed this map.

Other than the failures of the US education system and of our information institutions (broadcast and cable news media) to adequately and accurately inform the public about the world when world news can be preempted by the latest court appearance of a Hollywood starlet tramp, here is another map that should explain some of that.

Anyone seen a “World According to Koreans” version of the this? Or a Chinese one, etc.? I’m pretty sure they would suffer from some projection distortions of their own, e.g. the virulent nationalism projection, the cultural superiority projection and so on…

The “more evil doers” in the American version may be the Islamic countries covering islands in Southeast Asia. Or perhaps headhunters or cannibals in New Guinea, though a bit far from kangaroo land – note there are no comments about placing ordnance on the Pacific “evil doers.”

    Hey Jack,

Those are not drawn by Koreans.

I guess “more evil doers” would be the Indonesians, as they are the largest Muslim country in the world and the Australians are scared shitless of them. Or “more evil doers”, could be Vietnam and Laos, although the United States’ relations with Vietnam have improved drastically since the 1990s. Although, I’d think it’s more likely to be Indonesia as both they and the Middle East are majority-Muslim and are both referred to as “Evil Doers” on the map.

To the OP: Igloos would probably fit more in Alaska more than Canada, as most Americans could care less about Canada. Canada is prety much uninhabited if you count the population of the country with the amount of land they have. Hell, Canada’s population is less than that of California and their land mass is the second largest in the world. Do the math and there’s around nine people per square mile.

Anyway, the funny thing is, this is pretty much the average American’s view of the world, ever since the 1970s when Americans started to care less and less about the world in general.

    Conway Eastwood,

    Don’t worry about Canada.

Canada isn’t going to be Canada much longer.

The groundwork is being laid for an occupying American force.

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=8551

…well, unless the groundwork was actually laid for an occupying Canadian force.

    I didn’t think of that.

But considering there are more guns in any single county of Texas than all of Canada, including its military, that doesn’t sound very threatening.

Do they even let Canadian soldiers carry guns?

I always imagined them with whistles.

As for gun ownership, you do have way too many guns in the US…But, that’s not to say Canadians have nothing but hockey sticks…

I got into a conservation with a couple of Canadian girls in Itaewon a few years ago (they were teachers). They mentioned that they were tired of people assuming they were Americans. I said you can’t really blame Koreans for making that assumption since Canada’s population is only a fraction of the US population. They said describing it as “only a fraction of the US population” was a mis-leading description. I said it’s approximately one tenth the size. They absolutely refused to believe me and said I was a typical American who didn’t know anything about Canada.

I don’t know if they were typical Canadians or what – but at 11% – saying “one tenth the size” is pretty accurate.

CANSOFCOM presumably stands for Canadian Special Operations Forces Command…

But instead of CAN SOF COM, I prefer to pronounce it CANS OF CUM.

Their nickname is “Silent Professionals”… which is funny because every Canadian I ever met just won’t shut the funk up about Canada… and even less so about America.

But, regardless of lack-of-silence, I guess they can be professional…

    …oh… wait.

WARNING: Graphic (but SFW) picture of “professional” Canadian Special Forces.

    Moving on…

    “USA…Canada’s dysfunctional cousin.”

Well… you might be right about that.

North America is a very screwed up family.

The Dysfunctional Cousin has the Halfwit Cousin to the north and the and the Dirty Little Criminal Cousin to the South.

    Fortunately, there is hope.

If the Dysfunctional Cousin can just cut up his credit card, ignore the liberal whining of the Halfwit, and give the Criminal the harsh azzkicking he needs, he won’t be so dysfunctional.

In fact, he can probably keep using his credit card if he would just force the Criminal to do all his biitch work and then harvest the Halfwit’s organs.

    Maybe that is the plan.

11% is closer to 1/9 than to 1/10. This news comes to you from North America, world leader in arithmetic.

#10. Of course Vietnam is not an island. Does the average 20 something American know that? Most do not even know that a place called Korea exist.

However, if there are “evil doers” at that “general” location, who do you think the “average” 20 something American think’s it IS? Most have never heard of a place called the Philippines either. They have, however, heard in general terms of a place called Vietnam, somewhere >>>> over there.

Where is Korea on that map? Not there? I guess Korea doesn’t exist to the Average American.

Japan however, IS there. That’s funny.

Korea does exist to many average Americans… just not to the author of the drawing, apparently.

Let’s give it a few more years until Korean products become one of the ‘majority’ commodities of Walmart and places.

‘More evil-doers’ is North Korea, but since this picture is an upgrade of an older picture, North Korea had to move to the South. Here’s the original:
