Korea Releases Chinese Boats That Were Illegally Fishing

» by in: China

The South Korean government has once again given in to Chinese pressure in regards the regular illegal fishing conducted by Chinese fishermen:

It is said Coast Guard in Mokpo are scheduled to release two Chinese fishing boats seized as they were illegally fishing in Korean waters west of Gageo-do on Oct 22.

The government revealed it would release the boats immediately after a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson criticized Korea’s crackdown on the vessels, openly calling on the Korean government to avoid the use of violence in the law enforcement process.

The plan by the government to release the boats naturally brings to mind the incident in September of last year, when Japan — surrendering to strong Chinese protests — sent back a Chinese fishing boat crew from a boat it had seized after the Chinese boat intentionally collided with a Japanese fishing patrol boat near the Senkaku/Dyaoyudao Islands.

The Coast Guard says that while the Chinese crew fiercely resisted using shovels and other deadly weapons, they only resisted a short time and later obediently acceded to the seizure, so they plan to charge them with illegal fishing only, dropping the charge of obstructing officers in the execution of their official duties, which they initially planned to press ahead.

The government, unable to issue any particular protest to the Chinese foreign ministry’s criticism of the Korean crackdown as violent, is, to the contrary, seemingly protecting the Chinese crew, who threatened even the lives of Korean Coast Guard officers.

This can only be seen as the government being unable to strictly sanction illegal fishing by Chinese fishing boats out of concern for diplomatic friction with China. This is shameful.  [Kyunghyang Shinmun]

You can read more at the link but ROK Heads may remember that last year a Coast Guard vessel was rammed into by one of these Chinese fishing boats.  Additionally, three years ago a Korean Coast Guard officer was murdered by these thuggish Chinese fishermen who feel like they can get away with anything since they are so strongly backed by their government.  I think what the Korean government should do is confiscate their ships when captured and then give these guys a one way plane ticket back to Beijing.  Once they pay a fine they can get their ships back.

They only resisted fiercely for a short time and later obediently acceded to the seizure, so it’s all cool.

So it’s not a big deal if you resist for a short time. Following that logic, Andre Fischer should not be punished for resisting arrest.

“I think what the Korean government should do is confiscate their ships when captured and then give these guys a one way plane ticket back to Beijing. Once they pay a fine they can get their ships back,” says GI Korea.

That would be impounding the ships, not confiscating them. But I agree with your point, that Korea should defend its territorial waters and its resources.

Here’s something you guys are not considering, and it is an important factor in how the local government handles the matter: many South Korean vessels fish illegally in other countries’ territorial waters.

I’d say just sink the ships and send the occupants back to China.

Then there’s nothing left to demand releasing.

    Illegal fishing ships from China
were closer to Korea than North Carolina.
So you can just let it pass,
    or kick some joong-gook azz,
or whine like there’s sand in your vagiina.

I never considered that China and vagiina rhyme so well… but there is a painfully limited number of words that complete the trifecta… unless someone is more clever than I am.

I guess from now on, i’ll stick to couplets when rhyming Asian powers with female body parts.

If you go with some Brooklyn or Queens accents you can find a lot of words that rhyme with China.
    Diner, finer, liner…

@ #3 – you’re absolutely right. Fiji has been raising hell about large Korean, Chinese and Japanese fishing trawlers and processing ships plying their waters for years now fishing illegally. They’ve even asked the UN for assistance in policing their waters because of it since their territorial waters are so vast.

#9 so you’re equating the Chinese maggot fishing with this? Just incredible.

    @9,

And those vessels should be treated exactly the same. You’ll find no favoritism here.

CH #6: Carina (urethralis) The ridge extending posteriorly from the urethral orifice and continuous with the anterior column of the vagina.

There are two other carinas in the body, but this one closely fits your original poem.
