A Canadian teacher just brought me a jug of high-quality Canadian maple syrup.
I cracked it open and sipped a whole shot glass full.
For the next 24 hours, Canada is my favorite country.
Teadrinker, maple syrup is a fantastic contribution to the world and something Canadians should be vocally proud of. In fact, Canadian embassies should supply little sample bottles to Canadian citizens to hand out to strangers.
If I lived in Canada, I’d get an IV bag, shove a needle through my cheek, and get a constant drip… and probably weigh 500 pounds within a year.
Go Canada!

#5: The moon belongs to America and anxiously awaits the arrival of our astromen – will you be among them?
3:59 pm on November 20th, 2011 7
Well , it looks like my prediction on the Super Committee experiment will come true. But it wasn’t much of a prediction. Anyone following what has become of Washington could have seen it coming.
I used to put the blame on the congressmen themselves, but now I’m deciding to reconsider. Their approval ratings can’t get any lower than 9%, … can it? They are going to continue to get their $175,000 salaries and their corporate payoffs through their lobbyist fixers, no matter what they do, or as is so often the case now, don’t do. They are just doing what comes naturally to them. When you employ street hookers, you can’t be surprised when they start sleeping all day and turning tricks all night. As long as they sign the pledge and speak in the talking points sound bites, no one will notice.
I have decided that the responsibility for this should go to the American voters. Polls have shown the one part of the electorate believes, as I do, that compromise is necessary for effective government, while the other part says, ‘Damn the consequences. No compromise.’ One side says we need to have government in action to solve our problems. The other side says the solution is government inaction. It seems that the latter has gotten its way.
Over the last year, the legislature has ground to a halt. There has been no productive work on jobs, the debt or the economy in general. The floor of the Capitol must look like a pre-school, what with all the scurrying around to deal with important issues, like Reaffirming The National Motto and Declaring Pizza a Vegetable. This Super Committee stuff? That’s adults’ work. But where are we going to find adults in this days and age. Can you spell “INTRANSIGENT” boys and girls?
The Congress is just a reflection of the American voters and we have a largely Jerry Springer and WWE crowd. Be loud and insulting and you are a winner. “Whoot, whoot, whoot!” Even if you have no talent or education, just be outrageous and we will give a reality TV show. This is what many of us find entertaining. This we’ve come to and this is how we elect our politicians. Now, we will get to experience the results.
Maybe there will be a silver lining. No pain, no gain.

Where does he get his money?
6:17 pm on November 21st, 2011 12
No, Teadrinker 11, I never heard of that guy. The Wikipedia article says he was born in Massachusetts – I haven’t heard of that either, maybe it’s a Canadian province? As to his money, he may have some personal wealth, and he has his organization. There are rank-and-file members, who probably pay dues. And I would guess, though I really don’t know, billionaires like the Koch Brothers probably contribute substantially.

Anyone following Marmot’s Hole? There’s a couple of guys over there duking it out almost every day. One, a lawyer acting as a legal consultant in Korea, seems to believe that character assassination is how one’s argument about a topic makes one more knowledgeable. The other guy is either military or former military and doesn’t seem inclined to bend to the will of the pompous lawyer-type. The lawyer has actually compared their high school sports teams success this season as a measure of which one’s position is more legitimate. My wife is an event/reunion planner and jumps all over the Internet. She looked up both of these guys in old high school yearbooks – I have no idea where she found them. The lawyer type was on his high school debate team – OMG, his picture tells me he certainly didn’t deplete his bank account paying for any dinner dates. Google “Mortimer Snerd” or “Howdy Doody” and you’ll get a great idea of what he looked like.

They cannot take their eyes off the soccer game on TV.
I realized soccer is a THIRD WORLD GAME with a third world mentality… which is why it will never catch on in a successful America.
If you cannot intuitively grasp how it perfectly represents the plight of third world and thieir loser mentality, ask me and I will elaborate.

How to win friends and influence people: Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct. Don’t give direct orders, but suggest.
Battle of Chipyongni:
Lieutenant Heath stopped the artillerymen at the bottom of the hill, reformed them, and led them back up the hill himself. By this time, fighting on the hill had erupted into a frenzy of firing, with the enemy in full possession of that sector of Company G’s line near the saddle. Near the top of the hill Lieutenant Heath’s group fell apart again, the men running hard toward the bottom. With his men all gone, Heath started back after them. He was angry, and was yelling so loudly the men in the fire direction center tent could hear him. Halfway down the hill he stopped and stood there. Yelling for more help, ordering the men to return and re-form their line. When they didn’t, he ran on to the bottom.
Heath grabbed a couple of the men by their clothing, yelling: “Goddammit, get back up on that hill! You’ll die down here anyway. You might as well go up on the hill and die there.”

Sorry, Kangaji…
…Starcraft jokes.
Which reminds me…
Starcraft is not a third world game. It is a hungry, developing nation game.
It requires clever short and long-term planning… ruthless action with correct timing… constant attention to every aspect… etc.
Idleness is punished. Success is rewarded and built upon.
Upon consideration, Starcraft is very much a reflection of how Korea engages the world.

“Can we use Starcraft editor to reenact the Battle of Chipyongni? ”
Why not?
“Overlord Heath grabbed a couple of the hydralisks by their reticulated stamens, yelling: “By the Queen Hive, get back up on that hill! You’ll be consumed down here anyway. You might as well go up on the hill and infest some Terrans.”
