US-ROK Joint Committee Conclude Agent Orange Allegations At Camp Carroll Are Unfounded

For those who have been following this issue this shouldn’t come as a surprise:

Director General Kim also recognized the work of the Environmental Subcommittee and the Camp Carroll Task Force for quickly investigating claims that Agent Orange was buried at the camp.

Although the official investigation into Agent Orange claims at the camp is expected to be complete in the next few weeks, there has already been a joint determination that the allegations were unfounded as no Agent Orange has been found at Camp Carroll.

The Joint Committee also noted satisfaction with its very effective agreements for environmental cooperation, installation access, and exchange of information.  [USFK Facebook]

So of course…the next question is – will any of this ever make it to the MSM here in Korea?

MSM = Main Stream Media… i.e. KBS, MBC, YTN – you know – all those that ran away with the story when it was a case of ‘USFK: The Great Evil Polluter’…

Thank. I knew there was ‘media’ somewhere in there.

And to answer your question…It depends on the media source. In some newspapers, I doubt it will be more than a blurb buried somewhere in the pages between business news and the horoscope.

One thing that you need to keep in mind…The USFK is an easy target because with privacy laws being what they are in South Korea, the local media is desperate for stories to sensationalize that come without the risk of litigation.
