Have you ever been to a Korean orphanage? It’s a pretty sh!tty life…and there isn’t much to be happy about.

I understand US servicemen interest and good deeds concerning these orphanages during and in the aftermath following the Korean War. I’m not sure what the connection is now or if it is any longer appropriate. Perhaps it is something which has ‘always been done’ and has survived into the modern era?

These aren’t really “orphanages” in the Orphan Annie sense of the word. They’re more at shelters for unwanted Amerasian children resulting from G.I. & bargirl liaisons. So it really isn’t charity per se — it’s more like “paying the piper” out of guilty feelings.
