Here is an article on how male prostitution in Korea can happen:
This is a world where you can buy anything if you have the money. There is nothing that cannot be obtained from a variety of goods to diverse services. Even “husbands” can be rented.
The “hourly-paid” husband service is thriving these days after being first introduced in Georgia two years ago, landed in Korea in January last year.
The services cost 20,000 won to 30,000 won an hour on average. However, the charges vary depending on what kind of service is offered and how difficult it is to provide. The exact amount is settled through consultations and agreement. The services are given when male assistants accept the settled price. [Korea Times]

Sure not the Korea I knew. I’ve never heard of this service anywhere.

No, because males cannot be prostitutes therefore it isn’t prostitution(if sexual services were agreed upon).

If a woman wants to see tool belts and butt crack she calls a plummer. What kind of housework does a typical husband do?
She’d better have a comfortable sofa and working remote control for the TV.
Male escort services have always existed in some form. And, a couple of years ago we learned there is such a thing as Rent Boys.

This thread goes well with the recent post “A Look At Prostitution in Yongjugol,” well done
For anyone to really understand my # 2 comment the link below should be read. Korean males cannot be “jeopdaebu”/prostitutes according to Korean law or at least that’s how it’s interpreted by Korean male Judges, lawmakers, police, etc…
A Korean male SHOULD be able to work and earn $$$(there aren’t many money making opportunities for them) through sexual encounters to help their parents pay for University while Korean women SHOULD NOT, they should save themselves for their Korean male husbands in marriage.
Is it possible that nobody else is surprised that Korean Males are the ONLY ones who can sell sex legally in S. Korea? “Ten thousand Korean females visit the booming upscale ‘Host/Hobba’ bars every day in Gangnam etc…they spend a total yearly sales estimated at more than 300 billion won.”
Of course Korean women can’t sell sex, nor can Korean men buy sex legally. It is ONLY Korean males who CAN sell sex and earn $$$ LEGALLY in the sex industry. The link below in part tells why, but I think there is more to it or maybe it isn’t that simple? Although I’ve never read the law, I think it’s all about how it’s viewed by the Deciders?

“However, the police have had difficulty cracking down on the operators of host bars and their male employees as these male hosts “do not exist”under current law.”
My #2 comment is based on the info. in the link above.
NOTE: Korean females CANNOT buy sex legally from those Korean males who can sell it legally…”According to the National Police Agency, the number of women who were caught paying for sex or procuring sex for others stood at 6,500 in 2010.”
So, watch out Korean females and wives for when you “rent husbands” you could be found guilty for having sex/purchasing the “service” if you agree to it while the Korean male will walk away free to mommy and daddy’s house to show them the $$$.

How long before Korea adopts this fad?

The irony. Reminds me of how politicians were having a fit about the half dozen or so room salons for women that popped up in Seoul a few years ago, talking about how these were destroying the fabric of Korean society…No mention of the thousands of establishments that provide the same services for men, including the one conveniently located across the street from the national assembly.
