SWAN Claims US Military Fostering A Culture of Sexual Assault

» by in: US Military

There has been another SWAN sighting:

Left to right, Elle Helmer, Ariana Klay and Susan Burke listen as Anu Bhagwati, executive director of the Service Women's Action Network, speaks during Tuesday's press conference at the National Press Club. Burke is the attorney for Helmer, Klay and others who are suing current and former leadership of the Navy and Marine Corps.

Eight Navy and Marine Corps women are suing current and former leadership of the Navy and Marine Corps in an effort to change the way sexual assaults and rapes — and the victims who report those crimes — are treated by the military.

It’s the second such lawsuit filed accusing the military of fostering a culture of sexual harassment and punishing those who report the abuse.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday alleges that nine current and former secretaries of defense, secretaries of the Navy and commandants of the Marine Corps “condoned a culture which allowed sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape” and failed to protect the women from those crimes; failed to properly investigate and prosecute offenders; and retaliated against servicemembers who reported being raped, harassed or sexually assaulted.  [Stars & Stripes]

You can read more at the link about the various sexual assaults these women experienced, which if true are horrible.  The military is a huge organization and there is going to be people who commit crimes like sexual assaults.  Just because a crime happens doesn’t mean the entire US military is promoting a culture of rape.  This is in my opinion intentional and divisive rhetoric by SWAN in effort to draw attention to themselves and justify their existence.  This is nothing new for this group.  For a real discussion about sexual assaults in the US military I recommend reading this below ROK Drop posting that clearly shows that instead of promoting a culture of rape the US military is actually doing the exact opposite:

So… Is it that SWAN wants all women out of the service? Or all men? Or segregated (“separate but equal”) units?

Or are they simply acting in violation of 18 USC Sections 2887 and 2388 out of a sense that our communist and terrorist enemies would treat them better?

Q: Why did SWAN choose SWAN?

A: They were offended by a goose.
