For women that ride the subway here is something to keep in mind:
Most sexual offenses on the subway occurred on Line No. 2, the Seoul Metropolitan Police said Sunday. Based on investigation of 345 sex offenders apprehended on subway trains since January, the subway police squad said line No. 2 saw 213 or 61.7 percent of all offenses. It was followed by Line No. 4 (52 or 15.1 percent) and Line No. 1 (18 or 5.2 percent).
Lee Sang-man, a senior officer at the Seoul subway police squad, said such crimes occur most frequently between Seoul National University and Jamsil stations. “The reason seems to be that many women commute to the Gangnam region and they wear relatively low-cut dresses and short skirts,” he claimed.
Some 221 or 64.1 percent of the offenders groped women on the subway trains, mostly during morning rush hours. The hours between 7 and 9 a.m. were the most dangerous time for women since many people rush into or out of subway trains at the same time and many victims reluctantly ignore the groping as they are in a hurry to get to work.
The evening rush hour accounted for 87 offenses or 25.2 percent. Almost no sexual offenses occurred outside peak hours.
Most sex offenders were in their 30s (44.6 percent), followed by those in their 20s (26.4 percent) and those in their 40s (20.9 percent). Office workers accounted for the largest portion with 143, followed by the unemployed (79), college students (24), and civil servants (seven). [Chosun Ilbo]

That reminds me of all the riots we had in 02. There were certain parts of Seoul where you didn’t get off the train. I recall a troop who got the beatdown by an angry mob, and then I think he got charged with a crime if I am not mistaken. I also had a buddy who narrowly missed another group of thugs, but luckily he was able to hop on another train and haul back to camp. Crazy times, and crazy days…

Between SNU and Jamsil? There’s a busline that follows that route and a ton of red light district like stuff was around there back in 2003. Girls in windows, telephone services… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN4u9hqBgBQ

Hmm, to get on point…do you suppose it is like a jostle grope and grind when the train is packed like a sardine can? Or is it just walking over and….”Hi my name is Lee, nice melons, they sure do feel ripe!” “Well anyway, have a nice day I am gonna go grope someone else.” lol

Sadang line #2 is where most Korean perverts hang-out, as it’s been reported before.

“A study has found that last year Sadang Station was the site of the most sex crimes committed in the history of the Seoul subway system.”

Well, the Sadang section of line 2, along with the corridor from Anyang to Yongsan on line 1, are the heaviest trains during rush hour. I have a long history of being squeezed on both those lines and have come unintentionally intimate with fellow passengers–whether or not I’m wearing a short skirt for Gangnam.

I’ve ridden the #4 during morning rush hour and we were packed so tight I couldn’t grope if I wanted to. Now, had it been a sweet young thing squashed up against me instead of a smelly ajussi, she might have been “poked” inadvertently, but I don’t see how I could be blamed for that….

#4 woosh
he wasn’t victim blaming. He was stating the reason that was a highly targeted area.
In other areas, the trains aren’t jam packed full of young attractive girls in short skirts and low cut tops.
he was describing what attracted people committing these assaults to this area.

@12, that’s bovine scatology. And you know it. Do you defend pedophiles, too?

Blaming the victim in Korea doesn’t always work.
Murderous Dog Stew Lover Undone by Telltale Collar
A discarded dog collar led authorities to a man in his 40s who had stolen a pedigree dog and turned it into the stew known as Boshintang that is still considered a delicacy by some Koreans.
Police said a woman identified as Kim (57) on the morning of April 3 tied her pedigree dog, of a breed that sells for some US$300, in the yard of the restaurant she manages. That was the last she saw of her furry companion. Searching all over the neighborhood later that morning, however, she found the animal’s collar near the door of a portakabin, home to a man identified as Song (44). Kim reported her suspicion that Song had stolen the dog to the police, who arrested the man on Monday.
An officer with Seoul Guro-gu police station said Song was a great lover of Boshintang, and his mouth watered at the sight of the dog, driving him to steal the animal and eat it.
“He probably never thought he would be caught because of the collar,” the officer added.
