Anyone excited about Stefani Germanotta spending a week and performing in Korea?:
US pop diva Lady Gaga arrived in South Korea late Friday, one week before a Seoul performance which will kick off her third concert tour.
The singer, wearing a floor-length low-cut white dress, white gloves and a pearl-encrusted mask, blew kisses to fans at Seoul’s Gimpo airport who tried to snap her image on smartphones.
Her schedule in South Korea for the coming week was unclear and concert organizers Hyundai Card declined to give details.
“The Born This Way Ball” tour begins on April 27 at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium.
From there Lady Gaga will take her hits and extravagant costumes to Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia, and then on to 21 European cities.
South Koreans aged under 18 have been banned from the concert after it was rated unsuitable for younger audiences.
The show had an initial age rating of 12 and older but the Korea Media Rating Board — a state watchdog — adjusted it upwards. [Rappler]
You can read the rest at the link but besides kids under 18 being banned from the concert, Christians are supposedly organizing to protest at her concert. I would be surprised if they draw much of a crowd because I just don’t see this being something Koreans are going to bet too worked up about. I hope Stefani enjoys here time in Korea and I would love to see her in a hanbok!

Shitty thing is that ban applies to the US side as well. AFN today was offering refunds of tickets and noted limited continued availability.
Someone tell me how this act is any more offensive than watching prime-time TV (complete with hardcore gore and violent depictions/acts) exactly?

Leif Garrett sold out so Lady GaGa will sell out that arena, too. BTW, how much are tickets?

Trash gay music.
Is that thing a woman or a man?
I can’t tell because it looks like a drag queen on drugs.

Forget Lady Gaga.
I’m going to the Boney M concert to relive the purity of roller rink Disco before music got polluted with lyrics glorifying dysfunction and bad intent.

#3, Tom — why are you such a complete bigoted asshole on this blog all the time? What’s your problem?

Tom must have gotten confused and thought he was posting on Freep again.

Oh, that’s right. I’m not supposed to make fun of American crap-pop. Only you guys have the right to whine.

Tom’s waiting for Pink Lady and Jeff to roll into Seoul. He’ll pay 300,000 for front row seats.

Don’t underestimate the power of pissed off legions of 50 yr old + Achumas AND their men. The turnout against L.G.G. will be larger than expected and it will be LOUD. Watching the protest might be more entertaining than the concert.

Once again, religious busybodies attempting to force their own special brand of morality on others. I don’t give two shiats about Ga Ga or Ca Ca or whatever, but what the hell? Don’t like it? Don’t go. Leave people alone. Yeah, their silly, meaningless, futile protest really isn’t a big deal but just imagine if more of these people somehow got into the government. “Oh, it’s not theocracy when WE do it!”

…first they came for Lady Ga Ga, and I said nothing because I wasn’t a talented hermaphrodite in the entertainment industry…

#4,
You do know that Boney M. was literally the Milli Vanilli of the 70′s, right?

Teadrinker, you are a needlessly argumentative thing. The wholesome lyrics are independent of the production values. Pop music has no requirement to be truthful. The end product is the commodity. Boney M, Milli Vanilli, Lady Gaga, and the rest, have no obligation to provide honest music. They only have n obligation to provide entertaining music. Everything is computer generated, digitally enhanced and mindfully produced. The music stands on its own. The concerts are simply entertainment shows to promote the music. They are not demonstrations of singing acumen. Lip-syncing is the accepted norm. You do know that belittling Boney M for being on the leading edge of the current industry standard shows your prejudiced or ignorance, right?

I’m no fan of Lady GaGa . I have seen videos of her playing keys in “normal” rock bands and unlike many “stars” she writes her own music. Gotta give her respect for that. Madonna was much more controversial and much less talented than Lady GaGA. I may not enjoy her music but as a classically trained musician, I can see she is worthy of respect. And screw all of us, she is making a good living. She is (as far as we are concerned) a musical, business, and marketing genius. I challenge any of you to do better.

Boney M created the song Daddy Cool which turned into DJ DOC’s RUN2U which turned into DJ Ozma’s … something… which went to Taiwan and turned into something else.

I’m no fan of her music either, but truth be told, most of the fakers out there don’t have any *real* talent. Gotta give it to her for being able to turn a buck or two (or two hundred million) like she has…
