Soldier charged $10M in purchases to Army, then sold goods

He faces a maximum sentence of ten years in prison plus a fine.

A soldier stationed with the Army Active Guard Reserve in Orlando admitted to making more than $10 million in authorized purchases, charging the items to the military, and then selling the goods.

Federal prosecutors in Orlando filed a case against Sebastian Stewart Oyegun II earlier this month.

Days after the filing, Oyegun signed a plea agreement, admitting guilt to a count of theft of government property.

Prosecutors say Oyegun was responsible for ordering non-expendable items for 14 units while he was stationed in Los Angeles, where he worked until being transferred to Orlando in November 2010.

From September 2009 to September 2011, Oyegun used a government website used by federal agencies to purchase items from vendors to make the unauthorized purchases.

Prosecutors said Oyegun manipulated the system, created a fake username and password, bogus points of contact and listed multiple shipping addresses.

Oyegun bought high-end engineering equipment, computer equipment and power tools, charging the goods to the Army, the plea agreement said.

The goods — including drills, toner cartridges and wireless headsets — were delivered to a Sanford warehouse, Oyegun’s home, and to his cousin in Texas.

Oyegun then sold the items at local swap meets, on Craigslist and to other people.

An audit showed Oyegun shipped $4.3 million of products to a Sanford warehouse. He shipped $5.5 million to his Orlando home, the plea agreement said.- Orlando Sentinel

Ten years for ten million. So I suppose the bankers who committed 100 million in fraud or more will be jail for life. Yes and its going to snow in South Florida again.

If he had donated enough to his legislators re-election campaigns he would have only gotten a couple of years then a job as a legislative aide when released. Silly soldier, forgot to grease the rails for his eventually getting caught.

Nope all he deserves is a stern letter of reprimand & fine him $300,000.00 just like the Bigamist Colonel. then let him serve out his time and retire.

What is it with the coloreds in supply? Everywhere I go they are stealing something and selling it downtown and nobody notices. How come nobody didn’t notice millions of dollars of stuff being delivered to his house for two years? After his head rolls, they need to roll a few heads farther up the line. I bet there was a whole bunch of them all working together and now they are all covering for each other.
