Picture of the Day: Ahn Cheol-soo at Woosuk University

Independent presidential contender Ahn Cheol-soo (3rd from L) talks with students over lunch after holding a special lecture at Woosuk University in Wanju, South Korea’s North Jeolla Province, on Oct. 5, 2012. Ahn is in a three-way competition with the ruling Saenuri Party’s candidate Park Geun-hye and the main opposition Democratic United Party’s hopeful Moon Jae-in for the Dec. 19 presidential election. I don’t know if he’d make a good president or not, but the guy’s pretty darned smart: MD, MS, PhD, MSE, MBA.

I used to use his freeware software. I have no problems with this guy. Just remember the last time Korea elected a businessman as president. It hasn’t worked out that well. But then again, Korea hasn’t had a good president since Park, Jung-hee. Allow me to rephrase: The ONLY good president Korea has had was Park, Jung-hee.

He looks like he’s been hitting the chronic some. Chiefin’, eh?

That’s why I like you, very straightforward. Please stick around!

He does look high. And by the look on the students’ faces, he just said something mildly inappropriate….or more probably, something they didn’t understand.

This is a still from a campaign commercial.

Ahn says: “Park Geun-hye is going to subsidize perms for all women over 30. I’m going to make hair dye free for everyone!”

    Ahn Cheol-soo:

He knows what’s good for you.

Good? The guy was a dictator.

Not really. Democratically elected several times…did AMAZING things that no one else would have even come close to doing…did not want to steal money unlike every other president. Yes, civil liberties were curtailed. Yes, there were soldiers in the streets. But look what you get when Koreans are not ruled with a firm hand. Adults throwing trash everywhere, traffic that can best be described as anarchy, and at worst, a the vast majority of drivers who drive like vehicular homicidal maniacs.
