Trouble in Paradise? Report Says Kim Jong-un Having Trouble With His Military

» by in: North Korea

(NOTE: This is a posting by contributor John Mac.)

There seems to be some doubt about whether the young Mr. Kim has managed to fully take control of the North Korean military.

Kim Jong-un, the young leader of North Korea, is still having trouble reining in the powerful North Korean military according to reports in Chosun Ilbo. The South Korean newspaper has spoken to sources in the intelligence community who say that Kim has been attempting to reign in the power of the military, who had taken over key economic roles during the reign of his father, Kim Jong-il.

Military units are being made to sign a loyalty oath and pledge not to confiscate food from local farms. Kim has also told troops that anyone who is not loyal to the leader is “unnecessary”, even if they are a good soldier.  [Business Insider]

Interesting turn of events. Let’s see if the younger Kim needs to take stronger measures to bring the military in line? Twenty to 30 killed in a gun battle is nothing to scoff at.

In the title for this post it says Kim Jong-il not Kim Jong-un.

I think they finally saw Mel Brooks’ “Space Balls” and realized what those hats make them look like…

Fortunantly, I read the article embedded in the article and figured out who it was about…:)

“Jong-il” instead of “Jong-un” is a significant error. Let’s see if that headline gets corrected.

Lil’ Kim having problems with the military? Shirley you jest? Here I was thinking all of the DPRK was singing the praises of the new Kim God.

He best not be keeping all of the ring leaders around and instead make them go away to the gulags and disappear shortly afterwards. Much better sign to the powers that be that the new Kim is the same as the old Kim’s when it comes to upsetting the head idiot in charge.

Sorry about the headline error. I fixed it.
