Congratulations to Kushibo for winning last year’s Korea Finder. He has received the book that he chose for winning the contest. I will let him share whether or not he wants to tell people what book he chose. Below is the first Korea Finder for 2013. Is anybody going to be able to knock Kushibo off his perch as Korea Finder champion this year?

So who knows where this lake is located?

The person with the most points at the end of the year of the weekly Korea Finder contest will win a book or DVD of their choice from Amazon.com. Also note that if you have a picture you think would make for a great Korea Finder feel free to send it in to me.

Is there like a Prima Strategy Guide on these? I can’t figure out how you guys solve these so fast; it’s either you’re wizards or have access to personal spy satellites.

Kaesa-dong reservoir in Kunsan.
And to answer your question, SFG, a little from Column A and a little from Column B.

Oh, and I bought an epidemiology* textbook for my prize.
* epidemiology is the study of epidemics, not the study of epidermis.

Heck. I was sure kushibo would select “The World is Bigger Now”.

#6,
Dude, that’s not cool. Science textbooks are expensive.

Glans, I actually wanted something useful, and you also know how I feel about buying books from the Stupogants. Besides, I thought you were going to give me your copy? Or was that someone else?
Teadrinker, the textbook was actually a combined award for 2012 and 2011. I dragged my feet for a very long time for the 2011 book because I was trying to pick out something really good and appropriate for this blog, but I ended up picking out nothing.

And hats off to our old friend Mark, who was always the undisputed master of Korea Finder.

And a special thanks to G.I. Korea for running this every year. It really is a lot of fun, both the competition and what you learn while trying to find the answer.

kushibo, even if a book is given to you gratis, you won’t finish it. So, no, I never offered you my copy.
Congratulations on your victory in Korea Finder! You’re the best in a field where I can’t compete at all. You’ve begun 2013 in fine style.

Glans, I’m not going to give any money to the Stupogants™ to reward them for their folly. If the book is given to me, I will make a point of reading it when I have time. Unfortunately, real life challenges (family and grad school) get in the way of that sometimes. The book Lisa Ling gave me was read quickly and thoroughly by mother, and I have read and then re-read half of it. Euna Lee’s book would probably meet at least the same fate.

kushibo, I hope things are going well in grad school. What will your dissertation be about?

Glans, drop me an email and I’ll tell you off-line.
(It’s not a secret secret, but I just don’t want to have it out on a blog while I’m still rehashing it. Anybody here is welcome to email me if they want to discuss it.)

If there was any doubt Kushibo did get the correct answer and is already in the lead in this year’s Korea Finder.
