North Korea Continues To Try to Find Face Saving Way to Re-open Kaesong Complex

» by in: North Korea

It looks like Kaesong is getting closer to being reopened:

South and North Korea agreed in principle to normalize operations at the inter-Korean industrial complex that has been idle for nearly three months, helping to keep alive the only viable economic link between the two countries, the government said Sunday.

Seoul’s Ministry of Unification said after 16 hours of negotiation, the two sides were able to find middle ground on various outstanding issues. [Yonhap]

You can read more at the link but the North Koreans are basically trying to find a saving way to reopen the complex after President Park called their bluff.

I think it is best to leave it closed. I am sure that NK will use it as a bargaining tool in the future if reopened. Chalk it up as an experiment gone bad, and move on.
