Picture of the Day: Catching Up With Marja

» by in: Korea-Food

Marja Vongerichten, the host of the 2011 PBS television series about Korean food and culture titled “Kimchi Chronicles,” speaks during an interview with Yonhap News Agency in Chicago on Oct.14, 2103. The Korean-American adoptee is married to renowned French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. She highly praised the Korean food as being spiritual and a cure-all. (Yonhap)

If you haven’t seen it the Kimchi Chronicles I thought were actually pretty good and I recommend checking it out.  You can watch it over on Hulu.

Save your time…the show isn’t very impressive, she is annoying, and her father figure husband is French.

Her GI father abandoned her and her Korean mother put her up for adoption – it’s candidly revealed by Marja in the opening sequence of her show. She uses the origins of her maternal heritage to reconnect to both her family and her love for the food. Good entertainment for Koreaphiles.
