North Korean Missile Flew Near Chinese Airplane

Fortunately the sky is a big place and a tragedy in the sky did not happen:

BEIJING (Reuters) – China has expressed its “deep concern” to North Korea after a Chinese airplane crossed the path of a rocket launched by the isolated state, China’s foreign ministry said on Friday.

On Thursday, South Korea’s defense ministry said a Chinese civilian plane had “passed as the ballistic missile (from North Korea) was in the course of descending”.

The plane was flying from Tokyo’s Narita airport to the northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang on Tuesday, the ministry said.

“On this issue, we have already contacted the North Korean side to convey our deep concern,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told a daily news briefing. [Reuters]

You can read more at the link but this is why you close airspace for a missile test to avoid situations like this.

The standard procedure if some country is going to do any testing or training that could be a danger to planned flying routes would be for them to publish a NOTAM (notice to airmen) days in advance so pilots and controllers would be aware to stay clear.

The question is did North Korea properly notify they would be firing a missile through that area?

You forget that North Korea is the greatest country in the world! They are greater than Chuck Norris!! He asks fat boy for permission to be awesome!!!

On a serious note, we really expect DPRK to follow accepted practices that are considered routine by every civilized country on the planet. Right now in my mind the only difference between Somalia and DPRK is the one boy warlord has a chokehold on the other warlords.
