Wow, what is it about Afghanistan commanders and scandals? Gen. John Allen’s hearing for confirmation as head of the U.S. European Command is on hold pending an investigation into allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with Jill Kelley, one of the women identified in retired Gen. David Petraeus’ affair scandal, a senior defense official said Monday. The Department of Defense Inspector General’s office is scouring at least 20,000 pages of emails and other documents related to the allegations, the senior defense official told reporters, adding that Allen denies any wrongdoing.

That is the way I am beginning to view Petraeus after reading this New York Times article: The F.B.I. investigation that led to the sudden resignation of David H. Petraeus as C.I.A. director on Friday began with a complaint several months ago about “harassing” e-mails sent by Paula Broadwell, Mr. Petraeus’s biographer, to another woman who knows both of them, two government officials briefed on the case said Saturday. When F.B.I. agents following up on the complaint began to examine Ms. Broadwell’s e-mails, they discovered exchanges between her and Mr.

I have been waiting to let this story kind of develop before posting on it and it now appears via a reader tip that Petraeus’ mistress that caused his resignation was his biographer Paula Broadwell: CIA Director David Petraeus dramatically resigned today after allegedly having an affair with his biographer. The alleged affair was uncovered after the FBI launched an investigation into the biographer, Paula Broadwell, for allegedly hacking into the former general’s email, NBC News and Slate reported. Broadwell, who researched the book ‘All In’ for three years, had extensive

This is an interesting story to see that General Petraeus is reportedly being considered as the director of the CIA: The Obama administration is considering Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, as the next possible CIA director, an administration official confirms to CNN. The official would not be identified because no announcements have been made about upcoming personnel decisions. The move would be just one of a complex shuffle set to take place through the rest of the year as key members of the president’s national security

Here is what all the cool people are talking about this week, Bob Woodward’s new book Obama’s Wars: “Obama’s Wars,” a new book by respected “Washington Post” journalist Bob Woodward, is not due to be released until September 27, but excerpts published in two U.S. newspapers are already fueling public debate in the United States with revelations about President Barack Obama’s war effort in Afghanistan. With this year likely to be the bloodiest yet in Afghanistan and the US war effort on shaky ground and Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is wondering what General David Petraeus is doing to save the planet in Afghanistan: Does she have any idea how much fuel it takes to power MRAP’s, HMMWV’s, and other heavy military equipment?  Does she think heavy armored vehicle’s can be powered with solar panels?  Solar panels can only provide power for things like street lights and possibly some offices with backup generators on the military

Is General Petraeus Interested In the Presidency?

That is what the Army Times is wondering at least: For a guy who professes to have no interest in running for president, Gen. David Petraeus can come off as surprisingly eager to talk about it — sometimes without even being asked. In a recent appearance at the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia he turned a question about his retirement plans into an opportunity to deny he has political ambitions. An audience member asked if he planned to write a book when he left the Army. He responded by saying

Attacking General Petraeus’ Combat Action Badge

The attempts by the anti-war left to discredit General Petraeus which is being led by both Moveon.org and the Daily Kos has gotten even more desperate as they are now claiming that General Petraeus was frauduently awarded his combat action badge: But a medal for valor in mortal combat is not a merit badge. It represents the physical spilling of blood – the risking and taking of life. It is an apology to those who have faced this terrible thing, and a mark of gratitude for their courage and determination

Exposing Gareth Porter’s Slurs of General Petraeus

Since trying to slur General Petraeus with misrepresented “facts” has proven to be a disaster for the left, what have they decided to do now to take him down?  Well make stuff up of course: And you though the Moveon.Org ad was something.  You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.  There is no hole so deep that the modern left considers it unnecessary to keep digging.  In other words, the demonization of David Petraeus has just begun. The lefties at the Daily Kos and Think Progress are both giving a lot of
